STI?

I was wanting some input from the guys that are shooting pro for 3 gun. This is my first year to shoot in the 3 gun nation tour and i a m looking to buy a new pistol. i currently shoot in tac-ops. I have been looking at the STI Edge in a 9mm. I also like the look of the Infinity pistols but i have never shot an Infinity. Tell me, is the 9mm the best choice of caliber to go with or would y'all recommend the 38 Super? I do reload my own ammo. I currently shoot a stock Glock 34 Gen 4. Or is there another firearm that is out there that i should know about? Also I could just send my Glock over to Mike Cyrwus as soon as he begins accepting pistols again. He's currently doing the race package on my Benelli M2. I would kind of like to upgrade from the Glock so any and all sudgestions would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I'm "trying" to stay around the $2000 mark on the pistol if possible. I know that the Infinity's can get pretty pricey but if you have shot a STI and an Infinity I would really like to hear your input!!!

9mm is the only choice in a dedicated 3 gun pistol.

Horner is the only guy shooting .38 super in a Tac optics gun. That's because he gets ammo for free.

The infinity is the sweetest factory gun out there but you aren't going to get much more than a set of sights for $2,000 from Infiniti.

Find a used 9mm Edge on one of the various gun classifieds. Send it to Mike to have the trigger tuned up, grip safety pinned, grip textured, and trigger guard undercut. Should be in under $2,000.

Go 9mm. I got to shoot a 2011 in 9mm last weekend, and for some reason I keep telling people it was the greatest experience of my life.

Thanks Jesse. Thats the gun that i've been looking at. I was just curious about he calibers that some of the top guy have been shooting. So do you think that it is worth the extra money to get the Edge with the chrome or just leave it blued?

Oh and would you recommend when buying a new gun getting it "super tuned" along with getting the magazines tuned?

Mike can do all the "tuning", and reliability modifications you will need, as well as tune your mags.

Also, I'd recommend getting a blued gun. Then if you ever decide you want to do any slide lightening etc in the future you still can.

I'm not quite sure what those super tuned guns and mags are. I am lucky having Accurate Iron close by to do all of my tuning.

these guys got you on the right track; look on the classifieds here and on enos for a used edge in 9mm; if you get a new edge, get it blued and I wouldnt necessarily go for the supre tuned stuff, just have them put a .100 wide fiber optic on it, buy a stock sti magwell. Buying tuned mags isnt a bad idea. I only tune mags for guns I build. Just to get those folks off on the right foot. There are a couple things to watch for, but its not too hard to tune em yourself if they need em. A couple things; glocks dont need really anything besides a 3.5 connector, some grip tape or stippling, and a good set of sights to be a decent choice for a 3g pistol. The trigger man doesn have to be patient and honest with themselves though. Its a good thing to learn to shoot a striker fired gun like a xd glock or M&P well, before you go over to the dark side ie 2011. You get instant feedback if youre not using proper shooting fundamentals.

I like the look of the hard chrome but if I get that can you still have the slide lightened? Or does the chrome have to be done after the lightening jobs? Also what's a good round count to look for when buying used?

One more thing. Is he lightened slide allowed in 3 gun?

I'm currently shooting a glock 34 and its time to upgrade!

The cuts will be bare unprotected metal.
Also cutting into the plating, you stand a good chance of it flaking
