I may have just traded for a STI edge and the front sight is loose. I'm sure best way to fix would be to pin it but first time to ever mess with 2011 and haven't done much with 1911. Wondering if there is other ways to fix

take it out, degrease the dovetail and the sight, peen the bottom edge of the dovetail a little, right in the center. lube the dovetail with red or green locktite, knock it back in.

You need to learn how to set up a sear spring and recognize issues associated with it, the trigger, and disconnector before you swap grips out. They vary quite a bit.

I've used feeler gauges as shims with Loctite 620 to hold front sights in. Mike's method also works real well. It's not a huge amount of mass you're trying to hold in.

Or just take it to a smith who knows what to do.

I didn't change the grip the guy I got it from did. I would be lost but will soon figure it out. I might just have to hit mike up and see if he can work some magic for me

got home and started looking at the gun haven't taken it all the way down yet. (i have full disassembled and reassemble a 1911 a few times) when the hammer won't hold back and it will do it sometimes just cocking with thumb u can push on the maxwell and it starts catching agin. once agin the gun is almost new and the grip is new just wondering if the grip may be the issue
