Just traded my jeep for a like new edge 9mm. My question is what holster do you recommend for 3gun and what mags should I get and any need to change or upgrades I'm new to the 2011/1911 world been a glock guy
I was just looking at the MBX I like them but I guess I don't understand the benefit of not having your slide lock when ran dry. I get that you shouldn't run it dry change mags before this happens but I forget sometimesJason Grant said:I am not the best to ask, but recently I had to shave off some of the grams follower to allow it to shoot the last round and not goto slidelock. That was all for me. No changes necessary on my MBX's
I "think", which can be dangerous, that sometimes the feed lips have to be altered to work with certain guns, but thankfully not in my case for my 9mm
I'm sure our gunsmiths can answer that better than I
It's so you can see how bad you're flinching when it doesn't go bang...lolrandy Thompson said:I was just looking at the MBX I like them but I guess I don't understand the benefit of not having your slide lock when ran dry. http://freedomgunworks.com/pdf/Competition%20Mag%20Tuning%20Tutorial.pdf pretty good tutorial on mag tuningrandy Thompson said:when you tune the mag what that consist of and what dose it change?
its so you don't over insert a mag and lock the gun up. I have never personally seen it happen but I guess there's a chance. I run Dawson precision magazine internals and his follower is designed so the slide doesn't lock back also.randy Thompson said:I was just looking at the MBX I like them but I guess I don't understand the benefit of not having your slide lock when ran dry. It consists of me dropping my mags off at accurate iron am with a check and getting them back running flawlessly.randy Thompson said:when you tune the mag what that consist of and what dose it change?
I got two mags with it ones the shot one that came with it and then one 140mm with the Dawson ext but I think all factory internalsR.Pullicar.jr said:its so you don't over insert a mag and lock the gun up. It's such a long drive from here but most likely my best betJesse Tischauser said:It consists of me dropping my mags off at accurate iron am with a check and getting them back running flawlessly.
negatory. that can happen w any mag.R.Pullicar.jr said:its so you don't over insert a mag and lock the gun up. I have never personally seen it happen but I guess there's a chance. I run Dawson precision magazine internals and his follower is designed so the slide doesn't lock back also.
I actually run stock SVI followers and springs in all but two mags. The TTI springs/followers have never failed me since I started using them two years ago but the springs compress noticeably faster and they start out shorter which along with the dinky high performance follower is how you get an extra round. I'll run my stock spring/follower most often bionic there is a high round count stage where I can go clean and only need 20-25 rounds I'll pick up my full TTI mag to endure I have one extra back up round. I like to live on the edge. Running the gun dry on the last round of the stage gives me a 3-gun boner.mike cyrwus said:negatory. that can happen w any mag.
it is all about capacity; if you want a dinky potato chip of a follower in order to get to 23rds, then it sure as hell wont consistently lock back the slide, not having any skirting on it for stability.
I am not the worldly three gun traveler, but I kind of like the stock mag followers with tuned mag bodies. three gun isnt ipsc and its not everyday you see a 20+ array in one place, without not movement allowing for a reload.
whats a tuned mag body? If it were easy enough to explain here, they would come that way from the factory.
or you can ask benny; he probably designed or saw designed half the stuff in a sti
I was referring to deactivating the slide stop. Not the follower choice in general.mike cyrwus said:negatory.
ah, you mean "lock the gun back", as in the slide, "not lock it up", as in "jam".R.Pullicar.jr said:I was referring to deactivating the slide stop. Not the follower choice in general.
you need to get off the internet and go shoot otherwise youll be catching racked rounds pretty soon.randy Thompson said:Thanks guy this has been a lot of help on figuring out what I need to get and do
