I just recently bought a new STI dvc limited .40s&w. I cleaned and oiled gun before shooting. I test fired about 100 rounds through it before I took it to a match. During match it jammed like crazy. It double fed and failure to extract aN empty case. Also the slide felt tight to the frame. I removed the barrel and guiderod assembly and slid the slide back onto the frame and it locks up on the frame. At one point it locked up so hard while trying to remove the slide that I had to use a rubber mallet. If I keep lots of oil on slide it functions but having a lot of failure to extract. IT had about 300 rounds through it now. Any ideas? Or should I call STI and send it back?

A guy I shoot with runs royal purple on his guns and the dvc doesn't hang up when I keep it on the slide and frame, but now I get failure to extract. The empty case is partially out of the chamber and new round is jammed with it. Have to drop mag and clear the spent case.

Hey Feegee. I was the guy that was shooting the custom glock 35 last month when you shot at ITPSC. I just got the STI DVC. I think it is loosened up now. I spent all last night and today putting rounds through it and possibly racking the slide a millon times! Have to go test it again this week but will call STI and see what they say.

I remember you.. I liked your glock.
I have been reading everything out there about the DVC pistols and it seems like they have a break in period of about 800 to 1000 rounds. Check it out on Enos before you send it back. Pm me later.

STI will fix it.

Carina Randolph was on my squad at Area 4 shooting a DVC, and it choked once or more on every stage. She eventually gave it up and switched to her back-up gun.

I called and spoke with Zane Maddox at STI, he told me that the slide to frame fitment is tight and needs to be broken in. He said around 500 rounds. It function fairly smooth right now since I've been racking the slide a lot. All its doing now is failure to extract/double feeding which he said it sounds like I need to tune the extractor and said theres a video on how to do it.

I haven't tested it again but I think it's better as long as it extracts. It now has 300-400 rounds through it and I spent lots of time racking the slide as fast as I can periodically. The slide to frames feels pretty smooth now.

I have a car that doesn't run that I'd like to sell for 10k.....interested?

Youve been pinning the trigger during these millions of slide racks youve been doing, so you dont destroy the sear, yes?

Well all the work payed off! I tuned the extractor and fired another 100 rnds through it. Gun worked flawlessly! All 100 rnds without a single issue. I'm happy now.
