Steel Challenge Holsters?

I noticed at the match I went to a couple of weeks ago, some guys bagged their guns, some guys used holsters. I have an m&p 9c, however it is my carry gun and the only holster I have for it is an IWB Old Faithful hybrid style holster. Will this work if I want to shoot it for steel challenge? Or do I have to have a competition holster?

Rimfire pistols do not require a holster, they're started at low ready.
Centerfire pistols start from the holster.

The low ready rimfire pistols are to be pointed at a muzzle point, such as a soccer cone, placed 12' forward of the shooting box.

I'd bet your carry holster, if its a strong side belt (IWB or OWB) will do.

I think you can start at low ready, but incur a time penalty. But hey, just go shoot! Concentrate on learning, having fun, and being safe. All that serious competition stuff can come later. Don't miss out on this stuff!
