Steel Cases for reloading...if you are desperate

I would almost be willing to try that with the 7.62x54R for loading up some hunting rounds. Those things are hard to find localy and expensive when you do.

After the last OKCGC USPS match I picked up a 9mm lead RN in an aluminum case. I've not seen any factory in that configuration, so reload or some manufactured round?

I'd bet it was a Tap rack bang round from Someone that didn't sort their brass or case gauge their reloads.

I saw a guy have 3 malfunctions and when he racked the round out they were aluminum cases, He said he liked to reload them because they were easy to cycle though his press. the 3 I saw all the cases Split. Some people like to reload them I guess

I reload Tula and Wolf in .223 and .45. Both are boxer primed and have never given me any issues in sizing, loading, or shooting.

i lucked into about 3k of alluminum cases a few years back in 9mm. Loaded em all up and shot em. Loved it. Never had to worry about picking it up. Had a few I noticed were cracked, but the majority just slid right thru. It was probably one of mine from showing clear.

DO NOT follow all of the advice in the video.

He uses a bench grinder to remove the excess copper from the base of the round. You NEVER use soft metals on bench grinders. It packs the wheel, causing excess heat, that will cause the stone to disentegrate if heavy grinding is done on it later.

If you want to do this, use a belt sander, or a file.

My dad lost most of one finger many years ago for this very reason.

Powder valley has primers in stock that will load berdan cases without the addition of the copper tubing.

I have reloaded 200rds of 223 with the Tula steel cases with no problems. But then suddenly the next batch of ammo made with brass cases wouldn't chamber, had to replace the lee sizing die with a new rcbs die. Problem solved, I'am pretty sure the steel cases some how wore out the lee die. Just sayin.
