Looks great...But, who is Palmetto State Defense???? Never heard of them. You are right. The logo looks cool in Blue...

Do you have the papers yet?? I really want an SBR...but, I hate the wait.

Steve

They're a local FFL7-2 up here in Greer. Same people run James Firearm. They do good work :D

I got the lower before the rest of the AR was ready to start the paperwork. Papers got sent off a week ago.

James firearm (gun shop) makes the palmetto state defense rifles in sc. They have ARs and 300 AAC Blackout rifles. Pricing is very reasonable. Plus they are good guys to deal with and they stand behind their product.

I bought an AR from them and then bought the upper for the 300 blk. Their great.

Give Brad a call their and he can sent you information on their product.

Paco, that lower looks awesome. My serial number is 000072.

Nice looking so far Paco, the pictogram markings are sweet too.
I am impressed by how clean the machining appears around the inside of the trigger guard. I can't be certain but it looks like they have checkered the front of the magwell. Were there any remains of forging flash between the rear hoop and grip boss?

How much do their stripped lowers sell for?

I trust you'll be showing this off at the spring 2013 ShootzenFest!

Thanks! You are correct, there are 5 notches about 1/2" at a 30degree downward slant on each side.

I don't see any irregularities in that area.

Good question. I'll ask them when I pick up the upper.

Oh most definitely. Though it will be a suppressed SBR instead of a pistol at that point :D

Thanks! Amusing how they're just one digit off isn't it? :D

Chris said if they had the availability they would be $120. They are currently not selling the stripped lowers as they are having difficultly getting enough forged. That's what I remember him saying, but its 12:10am and I'm tired.
So all lowers they are receiving are going to the rifle/pistol/SBR builds.

Let me know how it works out... I'm debating between a traditional 5.56 SBR with can and a 300 BLK SBR with can. I know the sound profile is much better on 300 BLK but I'm loath to add another caliber to the cabinet!

I'm still waiting on the barrel :(

Got the 762SDN-6 from AllenArms as soon as the shipment arrived (i was on the list  )
EOTech 517 is sitting under my bed at the moment, keeping it's box away from the dog.
Troy Alpha 7.2" rails are sitting around somewhere. I think I now have more magazines for guns I don't have yet / can't use (both AR15s) than have guns.

Regarding your dilemma, I'd go for at least a 7.62 can, that way you can do either one. I plan on shooting 5.56 though my 762SD-N6 (out of a 20" barrel though)
A 5.56 10.5" SBR will probably need a muzzle break QD mount to act as a sacrificial blast chamber.

James firearm/ palmetto state defense will be at this charleston show this weekend. You can ask Chris or brad this weekend.

I drop by the shop at least once a week or every other week. See what interesting things they have acquired, buy a bolt action 22, buy another suppressor for said 22, bug them about my barrel.

You need to ask them about the zombie golf cart the next time you see them.

Stamp has arrived and IT IS DONE!

Pics up tomorrow.

Nice! Specs on the build PLEEEEEASE.

How long was the turnaround on the SBR?

I have debated registering one of my lowers as an SBR and doing a 300BLK and 5.56 SBR upper but I wanted 2 more suppressors (.45 and .30) first.

My other option was doing a single shot Handi Rifle in 300BLK and using my 9mm suppressor on it to save money and to have a super quiet varmint (or sentry  ) rifle.

Palmetto State Defense lower
AAC 9" 300BLK barrel 1:7 twist
AAC 51T Blackout FH
Troy 7.2" Alpha rail with squid grips
PSD M16 BCG
Ergo F93 stock & buffer tube
Magpul MOE grip
Magpu BUIS
EOTech 517

Built & Assembled by the guys over at James Firearm/Palmetto State Defense

Also have an actual Sabre Defence 10.5" 5.56 upper to go on it as well.

Edit: the AAC 762SDN-6 stamp is coming in this month as well. :D

That big ole SDN-6 won't make the front of the 9" barrel to off balanced will it? Either way, it should sound great.

That spec sheet of your parts sounds killer, I'm looking forward to the pictures! Well done - top tier stuff always pays off in the long run.

I noticed there is a M16 BCG in there......pretty sure I can hook you up come spring time in Chucktown at Boggy Head. ;)

I didn't notice or perhaps I missed it but what kind of trigger setup are you using?

Oh yes. I think we will have some fun :D
Its just a standard PSD trigger. I don't know what they do to it, but it breaks cleanly and is an excellent trigger. I had my DPMS out there and compared to the PSD-15's trigger its like sandpaper on a rock.

I put a decently heavy stock on the SBR so it balances very well.

5.56 upper is on the right. It will be getting a 51T brakeout to mount the 762SDN6.
