I've been shooting this 44 magnum load for well over 20 years and it still gets the job done every time...

CASE: Starline nickel plated 44 magnum...

PRIMER: CCI-350 magnum pistol...

POWDER: Winchester 296 / 24.0 gr...

BULLET: Remington 240 gr. JHP / Hornady 240 gr. XTP...

VELOCITY: Depends on gun and barrel length...

ACCURACY: Most "hunting revolvers" shooting this load will keep all 6-shots inside a 3" circle at 100 yds...

My Ruger Super Redhawk gets a 240 grain Sierra HP with 24.0 grains of H110. Gets it a little over 1500 fps.
This was my first load in a Virginian Dragoon that I bought in 1980 that was subsquently stolen and replaced with the Ruger.
I've never shot it over 50 yds, as the area I use it in is pretty tight cover for deer.
There are times that I don't even take the rifle into that area, just the pistol.
Recently bought a S&W 65-5 in .45LC. It was a bargain, so I'm going to see about working up a load for this revo, and see what it will do to some deer this fall.

Dennis,

I build a lot of hunting handguns around the Ruger Super Redhawk and Super Blackhawk and like I tell the guys that shoot the 44 magnums, out to 125 yds. you don't give up anything to a rifle....
