Guys, I need help finding a spotlight that will attach to a 22 mag rifle and shine brightly where I aim. We have chickens and have all kinds of varmints trying to get to them at night. Mostly coons and possums. I have a big spotlight, but it is hell to hold the rifle, spotlight and shoot worth a crap one-handed!

Any suggestions?

HA! HA! we are in the same boat. I'm wondering about one of the lights that go on the brim of the hat, I never know what gun I'm going to use out of the safe at 4:30 in the morning.
We have some LED lights that go on our hard hats at work that are pretty powerfull. Already posted this pic.

Dennis, you got there what my wife calls a good "armadilla". If they start digging up the yard, I end up getting up a couple of times a night to see I can kill!

How much will a surefire cost me and will it light 'em up at 20 to 30 yards??

thanks for the help!

Same here. When they start digging, we get up on night patrol ;)

I don't have a surefire. I have a zenon dive light that I hold under the forearm.
I'm sure you don't have any of these, but some of the old optics don't have the coating on them, that enhances low light situations.
My old Weavers are useless at low-light conditions. The new stuff is far superior.

I am pretty much 100% Leupold, most are relativity late models(last 10 tens years). I am not too far from retirement and near-sighted, so I don't see too well in low light. I am also not familiar with these new high tech lights. Can I get into something that will work in the $40 range??

Maybe this is what your after. I have heard stories...of the bigger version being used at 800 yards. the smaller is good to about 150-200 i think.

I've got 3 or 4 G2s floating around in bags, truck, etc. My family just about has the market cornered on them. These would be fine to 20-30 yards. Duct tape not included.

Guys, thanks very much for all the help. I think I will order one of the stream lights. There are some other cool lights, but out of budget!

I figured that solution might work pretty well for you. Post some pictures once you get kitted out so we can see how it looks. I get the feeling some other guys might like that solution for the same purpose. Good luck.
