We will be hosting rifle matches the first Saturday of the month from March through September at our place near Lincoln, KS.

The first match will be March 1, 2014.
-sign up from 0830-0900
-.300 WM or smaller
-50-80 rounds per match
-some matches will have some pistol requirements (we'll let you know ahead of time)
-will be shooting mostly steel with some paper
-targets from 10 yds to 1400 yds, the bulk of the targets will be in the 400-800 yd range
-$20 match fee
-on site lodging available for $30 (contact us ahead of time for arrangements)

These matches are for fun and to learn and put to use marksmanship fundamentals in field conditions. This is a good opportunity to learn how to shoot at a little longer distances and from various shooting positions, then practice what you learn.

Come on out and join us!

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Steve

Those distances are getting pretty far out there! 1400 yds is quite the poke.
Yes, but it is an amazing feeling hearing that distant, delayed ding when you connect.
Come on up and try it out sometime!

I'd have to get a rifle to shoot that far. LOL..

I know the .06 can reach it, but it might be at a 45 degree angle. :D

500 has been my limit so far. Chip shot for those that shoot longer.

Might take me the 50-80 rounds to dink a 1400 yard target lol I'm pretty sure the 308 would loose enough velocity to make the 175's do some odd things! 243 might get there but not sure you'd hear the dink on steel BUT it sounds like fun! later,

Kirk

Hey Kirk
You and Corey need to make the trip up and give this a try. Luckily the steel we shoot doesn't have to be knocked down to score, the targets are checked for impacts and painted between shooters. I hit the 1400 once, the bullet must have tumbled just right because the impact mark was sideways on the steel.
Steve and his family put some good shoots together with some challenging targets, including the 400 yd movers...
Hope some of you guys can make it up.

I've hit 1300 with the 243 but that day if you farted you'd have to smell it awhile as there was NO wind....... from momma nature that is lol

Might see if I can get ol' Corey to make a trip up there, he's been trying to find something I can't shoot, ask him about some 5/8 rebar hehe. Later,

Kirk

How did it go?
Went pretty well even though it was cold. My camera kept freezing up so I don't have much for photos.
The scores from the match are in the match results thread.

April's match will be two, one day matches back to back.

They will be Saturday, April 5th and Sunday, April 6th. These will be identical matches. You can choose which day fits your schedule best or if you want to try and beat your score or just double your fun, you can shoot both days. Each days match will be scored against that days shooters in order to keep conditions about the same.

You will need:
-pistol
-60 rnds rifle
-10 rnds pistol
- sling for rifle

$20 match fee
Lodging available for $30/night

Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Steve

I missed this whole post somehow. I am knee deep in coaching U10 softball, hopefully I can get up there & make a match. I signed up for one of the PRS matches in New Mexico for the 26 & 27th of this month. I have just been shooting in the middle of the pack, the more I shoot longrange I find there are topics I never considered, topics that I thought I knew but grossly misunderstood, and then there is wind. I got to squad with Wade S at the last match he said it best "no one knows what the wind is, we are mathematicians we make the best guess & adjust accordingly."
I have learned so much this past year it has been a blast. My two furthest hits to date was 1280 preparing for the match and 1300 yds at a 20" target holding 7 mils for wind there was a 10-28 mph wind that constantly changed you could not hear the impact but they had strobes and they sure lit up. One guy in the squad behind me got it 3 out of 5 in same conditions he had a 6 x 47mm.

Kirk is an ass he puts a scope on his rifle sights it in with a dirt back stop gets some dope figured out then. Someone hits a 5/8 rebar hanging @ 500 yds. Someone says i am going to laugh when your buddy (kirk) hits it first shot. Then Kirk hit it first shot. I shot extremely close but all around that rebar.

May Match

May's match will be May 3 and/or 4, your choice or shoot both days for twice the fun.
70 rounds rifle and 10 rounds pistol

This will be the last match on the "flat ground" until after harvest. The June and possibly July matches will be up in the hills.

There will be a prize table at the last match, Sept 6th. At every match there is a prize jar in which to put your name for the drawings, the more matches you make the better your chances. So far there is a cooler of beef and a few other things from Spearpoint, a shooting mat from Diamond H Design, and some items from Badger Ordnance.

Below is the rest of 2014's schedule:
May 3 and 4
June 7 and 8
July 5 and 6
August 2 and 3
Sept 6th

Hope you can make it!
Steve

Corey if you only knew about ol' Kirk :)

Steve I'd like to make it up and shoot, I don't see me being real competitive but hey it would be a fun time! just need to get some time I can get away from work, seems our tools are in high demand for the last 6 month's I've not had a mess of time! maybe Corey and I can split a trip one of these days? I think the hills would be more fun granted those wind currents will play hell lol Later,

Kirk,
Glad to hear business is good! You guys come on up when you can make it, I'd like to shoot with you.
Steve

Posting these is really evil :) I'm thinking a sale of my old skool rifles and building something competive and a bit quicker to reload. Later,

Kirk

Next match is June 7 and 8. Same setup both days, pick which day you want to shoot or shoot both days.
7 stage match, 6 targets per stage, one shot per target. No pistol targets this time.
Bring a tripod or shooting sticks if you have them and binoculars will help in finding targets. We will be shooting from 150 yds to 1100 yds at this one, all steel.
Come on out and join us for a little fun!
Steve
