Power line construction. New towers are spanning across the lake. Helicopters were being used to string the cables. Some of the cables drooped into the lake, which would have been a boating hazard.
It was near the duck hunting area as well, so the safety of the construction crews was a consideration.

This is my first post on this forum, but i went to sooner last weekend to try and goose hunt it, but the blind keys werent out. do you know if they close it for the rest of goose season?

First of all, welcome to the Forum!
Looks like from your avatar your a pistol shooter as well. You'll fit right in. :D

I'm not a great waterfowler, but I'll check into it and find out. I know duck season was over this last weekend.

Ya, I know, I do a lot of hunting and I thought you might know just cause you where connected with that community. If you can't figure it out that'd be cool. And I don't really have a specific gun type, I just like to hunt and have a small collection. I just shoot most of my grandpa's.

The duck hunting area is a dinosaur from the days the lake was built. There were tons of enviromental things that went on because of political/enviromental bull crap.

There is a power line construction going on, which is why the lake was closed earlier. I drove out to the area where the duck hunting areas are located and the gates are open, but not brass tabs.
Driving out, there was a helicoptor dragging lines across the lake.I talked to the Plant Manager of Sooner today, and he didn't have a clue.

Its operated by the ODW. Doug Gottshock is the GW for that area.
