Solder/Braze/Weld mosin bolt handle?

I'm installing the ATI bolt handle/scope rail on my MN 91/30. I got the original bolt handle cut down and I'm getting ready to drill and tap the hole for the screw, but I don't like the idea of having it supported by 1 screw, so I'll probably drill and tap a second screw or pin it on for more rigidity. Mainly for cosmetic purposes, I want to hide the seam/screw head so that it looks like one piece, but a stronger bond would be a bonus.

Any advice on how to go about this? I don't have a welder or any torches or anything, but I'm thinking of buying an O/A torch since I have to replace my water heater soon anyway. Thanks!

never seen this guys work, but have been aware of him for a while. Maybe worth looking at.

Put a heat sink on the bolt head area so you don't anneal it.

luckily, on the mosin, the bolt head is a separate piece, the bolt is in 3 sections with the bolt handle being on a sleeve, although I have read to take care not to overheat the ramp area.

I've read that it's not good to weld stainless with an O/A torch, but have seen several people do it. Would silver soldering or brazing be a better approach? Like I said, it's mostly cosmetic, but any added strength would be a bonus.

You don't need Oxy/Acetylene to braze or solder. I bet that Brownell's Hi-Force 44 would do just fine.
