So I sold a gun on another forum, let the guy know it was use an all the info about the gun. Posted picture let him know that there was a scratch and where. So I sent the gun NDA which was a pretty penny, and he found a scratch on the slide. I let him know that if I would have seen the scratch that I would have informed him. So now I dont know what to do, I am not the type of person that will try to get one over on a person if anything I go out my way to make them happy. This is the first time it has happen to me. I have texted him to see what he is wanting me to do to fix the problem but I have not heard back yet. I can not see a scratch on the slide in the first picture but can in the second picture. I most have missed it. Please let me know what you would do or how far should i go to make him happy.

If its listed as NITB, it should have no blemishes, unless the seller points out something.
Lightly used = a scratch or two.
The buyer, can put a scratch on it at delivery, and go back to the seller, and do exactly what your saying.

Take tons of pics of anything you sell on-line

He know it was used with round through it and was told about the scratch on the frame. I also asked if it was out the box when he picked it up at the FFL, he did say it was in the Springfield case but to me that means out of the cardboard box it was sent in.

First step is ask him what he wants to do about it, which I see you've already taken.

About the most I'd offer is to split return shipping, you made a good effort to show the gun in the pictures you took, and it's used, which means normal wear and tear. I'd actually expect that mark on any used 1911 I bought over the internet, IMO it's not enough to warrant any serious discounting of the gun.

I'm with tech, and it looks to be stainless too. Stainless marks easier than carbon steel.

Not only that, but you can see all the other scratches in both pics, but not the three stupid marks on the slide. They are not there in the first pic.

Are those both pics he sent you back?

I dont know what to think, I still haven't heard back from him about what he would like me to do to correct the problem. Didn't sleep well at all last night hate not know the real story. Heck they could have taken it out at the FFL an scratched it, who knows. I guess I'll just have him send it back if he ask for to much, I already drop my asking price for him after I told him about the frame scratch and then got crushed on NDA shipping.

Well he got back to me, said he was done don't know what that means, I apologize about the scratch that wasn't there or I did see. Told him he could send it back and I would give him his money back. Hate that it happen but I do not know how the scratches got there. This will be the last gun I sale that isn't FTF.

If that dude's all wrapped up about just one of the many scratches, he's a tool or a jerk or both.

Spiff and I are in agreement. You did a good job of representing the gun to him. Don't let it sour you on shipping stuff though, I've never had a buyer do anything similar.

I never bought anything on the Internet that didn't look worse in person than it did online. Offer to split the return shipping if he wants a refund. If he isn't willing to do that tough $hit for him.

Ya told him he could send it back or I would send him $50 back if he was going to keep it. But he has not responded back. I did let him know that by no means was I admitting I knew about the scratches. Because if I did he would have been told about them.

you've done your part try to bring a rresolution to this so if he doesn't like what you've offered then piss on him

If you described it accurately and photographed it and stated it was not new and gave full disclosure to the best of your ability you did what was required. You are not a store. Did you in your original WTS offer a return if not happy on inspection ? If not then tell him sorry he is beat. I have had exactly one person in 10 plus years try that with me online which has prompted me to go to the following ends. I will before the actual sale offer to send additional photos and if anything I actually grade what I am selling as worse than what it actually is, almost everyone who has bought from me attests to the fact whatever they bought is in much better shape than I described it in. I want people be happy with what they get from me, but I am also not a store. You are buying it honestly described to the best of my ability and AS IS end of story.

I hope you come to an amicable resolution on this , there are some people though you cannot make happy.

As JT, Spiff, hell everyone has stated.

Bottom line is do what you think is right so you are comfortable about the situation.

I think you have gone way beyond what is considered fair if you were as accurate as possible in the description.

Lastly if you were accurate., doom on him.

Done deal he accepted my offer for $50 off. I know I did not see the scratch or I would have told him. I don't scam anyone and I hate that the deal was not smooth. But I feel better that he accepted what I offered.

Thanks for all the replies.
