So, I'm sending my pistol to Springfield.....

Pardon me if I'm wrong, but if a gun is not performing correctly, and the Mfgr won't make it right, is it worth putting extra money into the gun to make it right?

The manufacturer sold a product that is advertised to perform.
If it does not, IMHO they are required to make it right.
I had issues with a Kahr CW 40. I sent it back three times.

Each time, they said to send it in on my dime. I refused, and they sent me a shipping label.

Each time it came back they sent a mag with it.
The gun has ran 100% since then.

Well, I guess according to them it should work fine now with the new mainspring.

Since Springfield refused to adjust the barrel height I suggest you read the post at M1911 where you also asked for information about your "problem". I answered it with my opinion under "bjg-1911." There are other causes of misalignment that are more esoteric usually dealing with the left to right misalignment but the ones I suggested are the most common.
If you need help to fine tune the firing pin hit call Mike at Accurate Iron or Me and we can measure your pistol for you. Unfortunately, the fix is the equivalent of reinstalling the original barrel from "scratch" and is not an inexpensive fix. As to whether or not to use this in a future build, the only way to really know is to measure the pistol to see if it falls in the normal specification range to see if you want to invest in 'primo' parts, and the labor that goes along with it.

Respectfully yours,
Barry J. Greyson
