Sig 228-229

What's the difference in these 2 models? The look exactly the same except for some, not all, of the 229's have a rail and pointed triggerguard. Is the 229 just a newer model of the 228?

Also, what's a good price on one without the rail and pointed triggerguard?
Where's the best place to buy from?

The P228 has a stamped metal slide. The P229 was developed specifically for the increased pressures of the .40 S&W and has a machined stainless slide. It was subsequently made for 9mm and .357 SIG as well. I've bought several of them used off of various forums and Armslist.
