According to reports, there are talks about gun owners and if they should be forced to buy liability insurance for their guns.

For example, if an owner's gun is used during a violent crime, a victim or victim's family could get money.

Move along folks, no agenda to see here...

This is more of the dang, "We can't ban their guns so lets just legislate the crap outta them so no one will want to own one." Sure puts the stretch on the words, "Shall Not Be Infringed".

I'll get right on ordering that gun owner's insurance after I check and see if my current policy covers liability for LEOs that trip over something and hurt themselves while executing an illegal warrantless search of my property, liability for troops quartered in my home, or liability for acts which may arise from writing a letter to the editor.

You are exempt from civil liability if you shoot legally in self defense. So, why would you need insurance? Are they planning on changing the laws to make someone who legally defends themselves lawsuit targets for a dead criminal's family as some sort of deterrent to self defense?
