Shotguns

I like the idea of a benelli, but I also like the idea of staying married, and my husband will not appreciate the benelli price tag. I am looking for something a little less expensive.........
I've had a butt load of shotguns, you will regret it if u don't get an m2 to start with, do what you want but you will spend more money in the end if you don't go ahead and get one... And if your serious will get an m2 eventually, plus it's a gun your husband should be all about it... Just tell him your gonna get a real man and an m2 if he doesn't get on board.

Divorces maybe???
I think so.....maybe he told his wife he was going to get a real woman and an M2 and got divorced! Because that is what would happen if I tell my husband I will get a real man and an M2 if he doesn't get on board! Lol!

Ha I hit post on accident and u beat me to the edit
Thinking back this isn't a good forum to say butt load lol
I was wondering......

Tell my wife... U must be crazy... She kick my butt if she knew I just got another benelli, I just got an m2 and sent it to AI , she will think it's my sbe or m1 or franchi or something but it ain't new if she's asking

Maybe look for a used one. I'm just shy about getting anything else because I fell for the budget ready to play out of the box shotgun. After sending it to the gun smith, I could have bought an M2. I think the Stoeger has potential, but you still need someone handy from what I hear. But I'll admit I have a jones to get my son the Stoeger. For $450 I'm not sure you can go wrong. The M2 will run out of the box, get a tube and go! All the hot rod stuff can be done later.

The one upgrade on an M2 that is a definite must have (imo) is a welded lifter. When I got my M2, I used it in 1 match and at the end of that match I walked it up to Cyrwus (Accurate Iron) and said please weld up that thumb biting bastard.

Why does your signature line say Rose Action Sports Mossberg JM Pro????

Probably gonna be a double tap here, rural Internet sucks. Steve Rose of Rose Action Sports did the work on my Mossberg JM Pro. He did an awesome job of turning a lemon into a great shooting shotgun. He is the smith that preps Katie Francis' M2. But here's the deal, $600 for a new shotgun, $300 to make it run, load port work and welded lifter. I'm very pleased now, but I once considered using it as a fence post. I'm sure the names you hear all the time are fantastic smiths, but I recommend Steve 100%. Plus, I think Cyrus frightens me. Seriously, I'm very lucky to live in a hotbed of action shooting, and have a national caliber smith an hour away. It's almost like Oklahoma!

I hope I don't get banned or flogged for asking this question, as I haven't done much searching yet, but why has the FN SLP not been mentioned? I ask because I too would like a 3G shotgun. I already have the 18.5" SLP so I'm familiar with the gun (NOT considering using this one for 3G). Have never handled an M2 though

I'm building a Stoeger M3000 project for this exact question. It is inertia driven much mike the Benelli M2. Stoeger is owned by Benelli. Its Turkish not Italian so I'm sure the parts aren't as good but for $450 you can have three of them for the price of an M2. The recoil spring is not in the stock like an M2 so you could have a competent gunsmith shorten the stock for you if need be. How tall or short are you? I doubt you are short enough to need a shorter stock.

SLP's are not very reliable. The only one on our squad this weekend at the 3 gun match was choking worse than Jake.

Gas guns in general are not very reliable.

Okay. And M2 over M4? I've been reading the Shotgun section, but haven't seen this specific question yet. Hopefully this isn't hijacking Jennifer's thread

Also, nice to meet you Sunday. I recognized you from your YouTube videos. Thanks for pointing Tony out to me at the pro shop.

The simple answer to the problem is to just divorce him and marry me and get the benelli. I love benelli. It has been said I have too many, which is a concept I don't comprehend.
Problem solved.

The other answer is to shoot pump and get a nova and an extension tube. There isn't much else needed to run a nova. It isn't quite as sexy as a big mag fed russian 12 with a huge comp on it, or a race ready M2, but for the money you can't beat the nova. And it will work those arm muscles for when you are ready to pull the trigger on an M2. (yes, sum pun intended.)

Yes. M2 over the M4. M4 has poor sights for this sport plus the pistol grip gets in the way when you load 2 or "drop dueces". I know because I own one and have used it in the past. Also, the 18 barrel can be a bit short. The only pluses I give my M4 is the thing seems to be sub MOA with slugs and it will eat any shell.
the 24" barrel choice is popular. If you are set on the M4 gas assisted system, look at the VersaMax. Remington borrowed benelli's design and modified it for 3.5" shells and more barrel choices.

I use an old HK M1S90 that I will be called "Richard Simmons" form here on out.
