Is there anyone local that can "smooth" out an 870 action? I don't want to mail it to vang or nighthawk or superior and would like to keep it local if possible. Hopefully it would be cheaper then the big boys as well.

I dont see where vc or nighthawk specifically offer action work, just add-on stuff and barrel work.

Is your action stiff or notchy?

From what I've been told they will do action jobs if you call and ask.

It just feels like it gets a little tight about 3/4 of the way back. It's not the side saddle either. I'm working on getting a factory Remington barrel With the new low profile rifle sights now instead of getting mine cut down so that's why I just want a very basic action job if possible.

Josh, pull the barrel off and check the top side of the forend. It could be rubbing. I rebarreled all of my department shotguns and noticed that the actions were sluggish. The barrels I purchased were thicker toward the receiver than the previous barrels. If it were me, that is where I would start.....

Ok I'll do that tomorrow. Thanks dude. It has a Surefire forend on it if that matters. Now I just wish Remington would sell barrels to individual officers instead of this agency purchase only crap.

Why are we not stored in each other's cell directories? I'm confused about that last statement.....can't you just order from Brownells? I must be missing something.

Not a 14 incher. Im trying to get the new one with the new low profile XS iron sights but nobody will sell me one. I still haven't pulled my barrel yet to check I will try tonight if I remember.
