I have a question. How far can you safely extend a mag tube past the muzzle? I was conidering putting a +8 nordic tube on my pump gun but it will be 5" past the muzzle. I want all the ammo I can stuff in and on my gun.
These are my three options I really want the +8 but im afraid it would be to long.
+6 - 14 inches (This would be about even witht he muzzel)
+7 - 17.22 inches(3in past)
+8 - 19.8 inches (5-6in past)

My experimental Nordic Components 14 round tube is about 29 1/4" long. I have to use two springs and two followers because the long spring isn't quite long enough. You pretty much can't get one long enough to shoot the end off and still have it function. Here is a picture.

It works great for pushing doors open too. I can see the targets about 1-2 seconds faster than the guys with the short tubes.

What did you mean by this part? I can usually read your cell phone typing, but this is too conflicting.

The shot string doesn't expand enough to cause a problem with the extended tube.

Jesse, why go with the short barrel if the tube is so long??? Is it just what you had?<img src='http://www.boomershooter.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/huh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='???' />

Ok here is a question. I've loaded shotgun, and have shot trap for many years. I've chrono'd many loads in the process.
I also hunt upland birds, and turkey.
Ive found that longer barrels don't result In higher velocities. Actually, they have slightly lower velocities over the chrony as the powder burn is pretty much over in the first 18" according to the
Powder manufactures I've contacted.
So, the Longer barrels are for sighting purposes?

I kind of like Jesse's idea of using them to open doors early.

That tube is exactly 29 1/4" long and sticks out 17 1/2" past the end of my 21" barrel.

Mitch I meant that you would need a tube much longer than 3' to have it interfere with your shot column. At that length you couldn't get enough springs in it to make it run reliably.

The shorter barrel just puts less weight out front which becomes even more evident when u have 7 rounds out in the end of the tube. The reason I run long tubes is so that I can get two Accurate Iron stickers out on the end if it.

Jesse that thing is Captain InsaneO its just oresum anymore and you could take over a small country without having to reload

One of those long bayonets would be a nice addition as well, then you could just push targets over or stab em :sarcastichand:

Imagine how long the bayonet would be for that sucker though ya couldnt just have a normal one on that would just look silly

How do I get one of those O.o? And how long is your barrel?

That barrel is 21". You can order one of the black ones today. Make ready pro shop has them or can get them ASAP. The black tube lines up pretty well with the end of a 28" barrel gun.

The silver tube isnt available for sale and I doubt they will be. It takes special springs and followers to make it go.

The black one being the +8? Sounds like you need to find a spring manufacturer to me. Have one custom made :)
