There is no restriction on size for this weekend Benelli match at Rockcastle. What would be a good shell for shooting the spinners. 5's or 6's high brass, prairie storm?

Prairie Storm is 1500 fps where the Mag Shok regular is 1150. Prairie Storm doesn't get along with some semi-auto shotguns. Use with caution... my versamax does not like it when I'm using the TTI spring kit. Does fine with the factory springs though.

are you talking about trigger group springs or recoil spring? Whats it doing or what exactly happens when you shoot the heavy stuff?

Mike, if I throw a Prairie Storm in the chamber and one normal load in the tube, my M1 doesn't like to load the last round in the tube. It may just have too much bolt velocity for the mag spring when the tube is nearly empty and the gun is recoiling....a lot. Haven't tried with more shells in the tube, also haven't tried that with the 3" stuff, may very well do the same thing. I think the bolt just stayed back when I tried it.

I portloaded a 3" and 4x 1 1/8 oz 1300 AAs in the tube in the middle of a stage the other and everyone played nice together.

I think Prairie Storm is a weird enough shell that it may just be way out on the limit of things Benellis/VMs will tolerate. I show prairie storm has about 6% more energy than a 2 oz 1150 fps 3" load, but the 3" load has 23% more momentum, which is what you really want to knock stuff over.

I don't think I've ever mixed a 3" shell into the tube, it's always been the first round out of the gun, either portloading or starting.

trigger group springs

when using the factory carrier dog spring, the gun has no problem with the heavy load. when using a lighter spring the carrier dog strut jumps off the channel of the carrier dog,

"stayed back" or locked back?
Right! Its interesting that we depend on the mag tube spring to be able to kick a shell on the carrier during recoil.

as part of the tti trigger group, he includes a lighter carrier dog spring? I just looked at the tti trigger spring pack on his website and I dont see any mention of one.

Stayed back I think, I don't remember hitting the manual shell catch button, just either tugging on the bolt or pushing the lifter up. As in, the next round came out, but not hard enough for the lifter to come up .

In the pack I got the springs were not labeled and it was the only spring that didn't already have a place to go. The carrier dog strut was the only place it looked like it could go. I ran it for a while with regular loads and it worked fine, just not with the 1500 fps stuff.

I didn't get it directly from TTI so maybe it was a one-time packing?
