ShootzenFest - June 15 at Boggy Head Range

So having never been to Boggy Head before, I decided to check it out on the map....

Not much room for parking, how do you guys work that out? Park on the road before the entrance and walk in?......

Thanks

It's far enough off of the paved road where folk can park along the dirt road if needed. Wide enough as well. I don't imagine it would be illegal to park on the side of the dirt road outside the range.

What is taking so long for Sat. to get here.
Cleaning and packing, which guns to bring, how much ammo
to take for each firearm...the excitement mounts!!!

Anybody bringing steel plates to shoot up? I may have some steel penetrators... ;)

the DNR range we shoot at up here doesnt allow steel, or anything you dont take with you when you leave.

im not knocking Boggy Head, ive only been there once but maybe we should all bring a rake.

In years past steel was OK provided it was a commercially manufactured target system. Then some of the volunteers who assist in maintaining the ranges "encouraged" the USFS staff to change the rules and eliminate the use of steel targets, now it's paper only.

Having said that I'm kinda puny and if someone left a large steel plate that was too heavy for me to remove off the berm for fear of injuring my back I may have to shoot at it repeatedly in order to break it into pieces small enough to carry away safely.

I'm just saying.....uhhh you know.......my health comes first!

If anyone would like a piece of plywood as a target holder let me know and I'll cut up a few extra. Remember to bring some tape or a stapler along with your targets. I can cut them appx 24"x24" to 36"x36" and you haul em out when you're done.

While I have a target stand that holds 2x4s w/cardboard that I pieced out of scrap steel, I used to use milk crates turned on their sides with cardboard ziptied to the bottom. Usually the milk crate mostly survives the experience to be used again.

I do wish we could shoot at steel. I don't actually know of any public ranges or private non-membership ranges that allow steel in the lowcountry.

I have to go to Florence tomorrow night and will be there until asunday morning, so no fest for me. :( I'd still like to buy a shirt though, already pm'd about that.

Sorry to hear that. I wanted to see that 22Mag and the A1 upper. :(

I believe Pops made a deadline announcement pertaining to shirts that has expired. I do not know if there will be over-runs on shirt availability.

Sorry for those who missed it, look out for those announcements! ;)

I will probably have 1-2 more with me.....

So all i need is some paper targets and a staple gun?

Really wish I would have spent some time last weekend getting the MVP sighted in a little better. Shes a little off with the couple shots I took today, but I had no time to correct it......Oh well, it's still a hoot to shoot.

i have a staple gun and a new box of 1500 staples.

i have IDPA targets and saved pizza boxes.

i guess i need some of Clickers plywood pieces to staple them to.

how do you make the plywood stand up, Clicker?
