yes, we have Boggy Head and Twin Ponds (at least in the Charleston area) and of course Palmetto gun Club and their ranges, but how can we get a 300+ meter range for thge general public? And I don't have anything against PGC and how they operate, I just don't want to be tied into a membership. It's all I can do to buy enough ammo to have a nice range day. I have no problem with a fee-for-use range or even working the range when needed. I just need more challenge then 100 meters or less can give. Once my Ar is set up the way I want it's gonna be hungry.

Pops might be able to hook you up with the person to ask.
It will probably never happen, as it is the ranges are tenuous things at best.
If the fracking vandals would stop tearing them up it would be easier.

One of the best ways is to show the forestry service we care is by showing up in droves for the range clean up days.

I can't een see 300 yards, much less hit a man-sized target that far away.
Fo me ot be a sniper, I'd have to be issued a jeep so I could drive up to within visual range.

seriously, I would like to see a long range too. I think the details and problems grow exponentially as the rangets longer.
The amount of property just to safely hold a range that size would be greater simply because people would likely be shooting much higher caliber rifles.
There is a forestery owned range in Albemarale, NC that someone on a horse was struck by a bullet when riding beyond the Flintlock rifle range. I understand they have closed the range. They will probably close it permanently simply because it would make too muchsense to re-route the horse trail soit didn't go beyond the range. I have to wonder what kind of dumbass would ride his horse at the end of a rifle range anyway. I suppose it doesn't matter, the rules are often adjusted in favor of the lack of common sense and an abundance of self rightous arrogance, erh, I mean against firearms.
If they re-routed the hikers and horse trails everybody would benefit, but that probably won't happen. Why should they make a change to the trail whenthey can simply close the range.

Greg and I have a mutual friend Andy that has 250 yrd at his place and could probably squeeze three hundred if need be.

provided the neighbors of his don't call the cops due to noise. :P I think his road would be at about 300 but the lil 200 yard bump would obscure the target area.

Yea I forgot about the bump. As for the cops that only happened once and we were making "alot" of noise.

Hmmm, and what kind of noise prompted such response?

Well, if any spot comes available in the Lowcountry count me in. I'd be glad to help do any clearing, clean-up and maintenance or whatever is needed for the pleasure of some mid-range shooting.

It started out as a suppressor shoot till about noon then the suppressors came off, A bunch of folks-suppressors= a lot of noise and then the cops so a bunch ended up going down to philssons to finish the day.

I thought the same thing Steve - looked at it a couple of times. Wasn't sure though.

It was a lot of fun. Fortunately the LEO that showed up know the land owner or he would have bin VERY uncomfortable.

LoL yea he lived right down the road.

If I recall that is clicker and Lafayette Gregory is the guy in the hat shooting the UZI.

Yeah that's me in the orange tee shirt, the funny thing is towards the end of the video I'm shooting Andy's M16 not mine.
There's a guy shooting one of my HK's at the 1minute 48 second mark. Also the guy at the very end is shooting my M10 with the 10" barrel - I love the way it stands him straight up!
