Shooting low and left

I took an hour class with Zeke at H&H. I'd been shooting at 21 feet and Zeke said I should shoot at 12 feet to start and to practice on trigger control. I know to "aim small and hit small", so I made up a target that fit a sheet of copy paper with a 3/4" red dot. The target in the picture was shot with my Glock 27 at 12 feet, 10 shots, slow fire, with a "bunny fart" load that chrono's at 950 fps. I'm getting better, but I'm not where I want to be yet, but thought I'd show where I've come so far.

Okay, after shooting "bunny fart" loads for a few days working on trigger control, I just ran 150 full factory .40 FMJ down range. This target is 10 shots rapid fire.........not like you guys do in practical shooting, but darned rapid for me. I was pleased with the results of this, my best target at 12 feet. At least I'm not anticipating the recoil as much as in the past. Not too much larger a group than my lighter loads in the previous target.

G27 is certainly a hell of a gun to use for carry. I've had a G22, 23, and 27 ansd got rid of them in favor of the 9mm models. I think I'm just a big 'ole puss.
Believe me, David, I've wished more than once during the years I've owned the 27 that I'd bought the 26. Now that I'm really shooting it, I'm getting used to it. I've run probably close to a thousand rounds through it in the past 3 months and it's made a big difference. This is my carry gun and I think I'd rather have the .40 coming out of that short barrel than a 9mm, just for the power factor.

I miss my G26. I traded it at a gun show for a Leupold MK 3 LR/T 3.5-10x scope with illuminated mil dot reticle that turned out to be a Chinese knockoff. You can actually see toolmark in the tube if you look in the objective lens. Now I know how to look for fakes, but it doesn't get my Austrian pocket rocket back.

Don't think I'll ever give up my 27. For me, at least, it is the ultimate concealed self defense weapon. I'll keep practicin' till I get it down pat! Think I need some more one-on-one coachin' though.
