I wanted to start a discussion about hypothetical situations that one might encounter on any given day. Discussion about possible courses of action and also possible repercussions to those actions. This is just meant to be a mental exercise to make you think before you act. And to also be aware of the WHOLE situation

We will have subsequent scenarios every few weeks or however often the participation warrants. If you have a scenario, feel free to start a new thread with a similar title. (give as much detail as needed to make a fair assessment)

Scenario: Refreshing Yoohoo

You go to the corner store for a bottle of Yoohoo and a bag of pork rinds. You are at the cooler in the back of the store you hear a commotion at the front counter. As you look around the corner of the isle you see an armed person at the front of the store pointing a gun at someone behind the check-out counter. This is all you know at this point

Do you:

A ) stay where you are and call 911
B ) shoot the armed person to stop the threat
C ) point your gun at the armed person and tell him to put down his gun
D ) other

Reference material: Oklahoma Statute Title 21 Section 1289.25 paragraph D

Head out the back door hoping it might set off an alarm, call 911. With my luck if I shot at the gunman he would turn out to be an off duty cop who had just chased someone in there.

You are onto something here my friend. With the limited information gathered in the initial assessment, a third person wouldn't know enough to bet the rest of their life in prison.

THE REST OF THE STORY: The person holding the gun was actually the store owner who walked up and found someone behind the counter trying to gain access to the cash register and he pulled his own [legally carried] gun to stop the robbery in progress.

No situation is exactly what you think it is.

I'm still laughing as I type this.

Piss pants. Hide in bathroom and call 911.
Do this. Eat your pork rinds.

I didn't look up the reference material but I'm guessing it says you can only use your gun to protect you, family, or property. Let the police do what they do.

I'm thinking pork rinds would give away your position, during and after eating. Kind of a popcorn fart thingy.

No actually the SDA doesnt say anything about protecting family etc. Read that paragraph. Its interesting

since you're going to the restroom anyway, can't you just handle your business in there?

We went through scenarios in my Tae Kwon Do class tonight, but on a more personal level. Like discernment wether to strike first or let things play out. Interesting set up on this one. Honestly, I would have been tempted to shoot from cover, and I obviously would have been wrong. Drives home that being armed is an onerous responsibility, and not taken lightly. Keep them coming, Burk!

Edit: what kind of pork rinds? BBQ or Flaming Hot?
