This wasn't on my list of firearm related bills introduced so this is the first time I have posted about SB875 but here it is SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:

SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 50.6 of Title 76, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:

A. Except as provided in subsection B of this section, an owner, employee, participant, member, guest or customer of a gun range, gun shop or gun club, who is acting in good faith and pursuant to the standards of the firearm industry and the duty of care under common law and gun club rules, if applicable, shall not be liable for injuries to any person engaged in firearm activities on the premises of such range, shop or club when such injuries result from the inherent risks of such activities.

B. 1. The provisions of this section shall not apply to employees in the performance of their duties who are covered by or subject to the provisions of the workers’ compensation laws of Title 85 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

2. Nothing in subsection A of this section shall prevent or limit the liability of an owner, employee, participant, member or customer, if such person:

5]a. commits an act or omission that constitutes willful or wanton disregard for the safety of any person engaged in firearm activities, and that act or omission caused the injury, or

5]b. intentionally injures a person engaged in firearm activities.

SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2012.

Passed the Senate the 14th day of March, 2011.

Chalk one up for the insurance companies...

This HB 2225 and SB 1733 have been a roller coaster to beat all. Stricken titles, amendments, subsitution.... it's like they want to give some RIGHTS back to the people....

Rumor has it... one of these open carry bills will make it and get signed by Ms Fallin....

Dennis... Hate to be a cynic but I'd bet the rates don't drop.

I don't disagree. As a NRA club, we get our insurance from their underwriter. I'm thinking it will help cap future rises in the prices, or at least midigate them. With this new legislation, their might be some new oportunities to get some competition in the market?

The sad part is.... Sooner or later someone will get injured, will deserve payment, and find no remedy in court.
Insurance companies own Oklahoma politics.
Ok needs tort reforms all across the board.
