After going through the various shotgun models trying to decide on which to buy and eliminating the major contenders one by one, I decided on the Benelli M2. I'm still pretty much set on the Benelli M2, but yesterday I got a wicked curveball thrown at me when my buddy insisted I shoot his SX3. It was awesome, it felt close to the Benelli in weight and seemed softer shooting than the Benelli.

I went home hit up the various forums and found no info about these things for 3 gun. The little info I did find did not relate to 3 gun. The other bits of info about the SX3 said it was a great shotgun, possibly the best, but they don't support 3 gun so...

My buddy wants to sell me his $26 inch composite SX3 for $850 so he can get one of the SX3 models more geared for duck hunting. The price savings would be great, but more than saving a few hundred bucks I want a gun that is Beastmode. Before I skip this deal and go order a Benelli, should I considering picking this up instead?

No,

Buy a Benelli.

Awesome, short and to the point. Alright I'm going to give Accurate Iron a call on Monday to discuss options and what to buy. Sticking with a my original Benelli plan. I can't stand guns that are fickle and I've learn buy once cry once. Just covering all bases before I shell out top dollar on hardware. Unless someone can provide a valid argument before Monday, but all points across several buddies and forums say AI Benelli is the way to go.

The SX3 is in the same family of shotguns as the SX2 / FN SLP. All of the SLPs I've seen deliver reliably mediocre reliability (and the only SX3 I've seen at a match didn't work at all). Benelli's the way to go if you can spend the bucks!

Ha! Calling Accurate Iron. That's like saying I'm gonna hit Madonna up on Facebook for a date.

I shoot an SX2 and love it. I've gone over why I chose it over a Benelli in another thread on here but to sum it up, prior injuries, the heavier gas gun is easier on me.

FYI,

The SLP I shot before ran 100% But i only ran Winchester AA's through it... But my Benelli loads 100% easier and is much lighter.

The judge says I'm not to attempt communication with Madonna since the incident. I guess I'll send a fax to Accurate Iron. If that fails I'll send a Twinkie with a love note.

Ok champ. Email?

It's the only contact listed on the website anyways.

Going to take a little different angle. The SX3 is NOT the same as the SX2 and the SLP. It has been completely re-engineered and cycles just about everything you can throw at it. Benelli is a fine gun for sure, shot one for many years and still own 2 capable 3-gun M's, but I would not hesitate running an SX3 in the biggest of matches. The SX3 is documented to cycle faster than the Benelli, although if you can outrun mine, you ain't hittin anything anyway. Another cool thing about the SX3 is you put a tube on it and you are done. No lifter mods as they got smart and made the lifter the same length as the opening.
Now, with all that said, I am running a VersaMax for the 2013 season :)
