SC Petition on Secession

I don't mind the idea of Seccession. I am not to thrilled about putting my name on anything at the Whitehouse.gov site as long as the current president is in office.

I won't even risk clicking on the link... :!: but if this topic is what I think it is about, the corrrect word is Secession, as in to Secede, withdrawing from or dissolving membership in.

Sucession and Secession: Fiscal and Physical; two 'almost' homonyms in the English language that are most oft misused, even among well-spoken folk. Tip for the day, and it's free! Carry on....

Topic title fixed...

wow. the signatures went up by 1000 while i was parusing the sight.

why are there more names from out of state than in SC?

AZ wants out also.

whats the next step if they get the 25000 names?

click "recent petitions" it says there is a "kill the gays" petition in congress.

this is probably a good site for the gov to get names to watch. the site isnt there to get anything done other than that. if they got the names there would be a state wide vote and nobody would want to give up obammy assistanse so it would die.
just my opinion, but you never know.

I smell a trap. Now the feds have names and addresses of "domestic terrorist" that can be detained without due process.

We have a winner! These petitions, as I understand it, were started by individuals, not State governments. Nothing inherently suspicious there, but the fact that you have to register your info with the White House in order to sign is a big red flag...

Not that it matters anyways. We're all already on multiple lists, and the Fed Gov is definitely not going to let any cash cows free, much less tolerate competition in the arena of oligarchy.

ETA: Does it make any one else indignant, the way these petitions so meekly ask permission to secede? Perhaps it's just my passion for freedom, but I am disgusted at the idea of groveling before our masters, politely asking if they wouldn't mind very much unfettering our chains and releasing their control over our lives and our rights.

I'm off to read some Patrick Henry, Thomas Paine and Lysander Spooner to cheer myself up.

Don't exactly think we need to break this country up to fix it. We just need more free thinkers who understand the foundations this country was built on to run for office, and enough of us non-politicians to vote for them.

I'd run for office but cat lady slappin a senator apparently is frowned upon on capitol hill.

It's just a publicity stunt. No one actually thinks this will happen.

It is possible that the stink of AP's is on this though...
