I new and was wondering if you could use a saiga shotgun in 3gun? To me it would seem the reload speed and mag size would give you an advantage. I don't know the rules so please let me know.

yes, but it would put you in open division.
Open division is where you'll find heavily modified weapons like pistols with red dots & comps & very high cap mags, rifles with dual sighting systems, mag fed shotguns with red dots & comps etc...

Thanks for the info guys!! It will be awhile before im ready for any 3 gun but I will have to go and watch one in person now. It sounds very interesting to me

You won't have as much fun watching. That I can guarantee. Get your pistol with a holster and a couple mag holders and the rest can be borrowed out there as long as you bring the ammo.

I've got every thing to compete with a pistol I think, a moded ak but no shotgun. Would the ak with a red dot be acceptable?

Yes. It would put you in tactical irons as long as there is no magnifier on the red dot. Tac optics if there is a magnifier.

I have a magnifier but it can be removed easily. So which class would be best for a noob like me?

Ummmm....Welllllll.......At the OKCGC 3-gun matches you can use a Sagia in tac optic and tac iron as long as it meets all the other division restrictions.

Wow, cool. So as long as there's no comp or dot......no open? Or can the shotgun have a dot & still play in Tac Divs?

Last post here so I will fill in a little history. The OKCGC and I have a history of inovating when it comes to 3-gun rules. The reason you have a 9 round limit at the start and no barrel length restrictions or mag tube restrictions is because in 2002 I changed the rule of a 22" barrel and the mag extention 1" past, (like it had been for SOF and SMM3G), at the Rocky Mountain 3-gun and got SMM3G to also change. That is why today that fishing rod Jesse uses is legal, I changed it for RM3G and got the other matches to do so as well.

He man division is a direct inovation of Eddie Rohdes, Eric and Kurt Miller and Jimmy Holdsworth. There would be NO he-man/heavy metal if we hadn't insitigated it ( BTW OKC3G is going back to the orriginal He-man rules more on this latter).

Next, the reason we can shoot red dot sights in "limited" ACROSS THE COUNTRY comes DIRECTLY from OKCGC!! Mike Pinto and I decided to change it from Iron to Tac Non-magnified 4 years ago and USPSA came to us to see how we did it to increase participation in Iron sight division. 2 years ago, after talking to us they offered it at the Nationals, and now ALL MAJOR MATCHES DO THE SAME!

There are actually a bunch of others but these are the main ones, so please give me a little lattitude when I say Mag fed shotguns can play in the "tactical divisions" in 5 yeqars or so we can all say HEY WE DID THAT! No Wall! No dots, comps, porting, mags that hold more than 9 at the start etc. just like a standard shotgun in those divisions right now. Magazine fed shotguns are the futur of where we are going so we are gong to start it now for 3-gun. Trapr and I already started it at the High Plains Shotugn match 2 years ago, so don't worry all will be fine.

Heavy Metal/He-Man will no longer requier a pump shotgun. It never started that way and I allowed it to be bastardized in 2004, no longer! OKCGC3G is now, a "tactical class shotgun, and Iron sighted .308 or better and a .45 caliber pistol with ONLY 10 rounds in the magazine! Yall be cool and stay in school!

HM just became more doable for me, Thanks Uncle Kurt!!!!
