Poor pics, I'll get better ones soon... Made sometime between 1960 and 1963, this is my Winchester 69A. Old school tack driver.

Is that an old Gallery gun?

Don't think it ever was used as one. My limited understanding to date (haven't really tried any research) is the 22 short version was not manufactured after WWII. The rifle originally belonged to an old friend of my dads whom we were all friends with. I was able to get this after his death.
I think it is neat in the fact that it loads from the rear like those slim little Brownings and that you can take the bolt out without dropping the stock. With the 22/24" bbl it is fairly quite and I like that.

I am not using it as a shooter, Just enjoy thinking of the use and the pleasure it must have given when it was a dedicated small game slayer. Plus you look at an older firearm and see the difference in craftsmanship to todays firearms. This I believe was a budget rifle but it feels solid. Might just be that I like that feel because I grew up with all wood and metal firearms.

Any way it balances well, points well, shoots well and I just enjoy having it. First firearm I have gotten that I dont plan on abusing.

Well, all the reasons you said are valid. I have classic guns that are shooters, and some that are to be passed around at a BBQ and discussed.
Will put up some pics of my Grandfathers Win 1890 Gallery gun in the next few days. I still shoot it on occasion for nostalgia, and to take out the yard pests.
Guns are make to be shot.

Yes sir firearms are made to be shot in my opinion as well and with my budget :). That is why I have more than a few boxes of ammo for it. Just not going to run a brick or two through it at a time and like you just take it out once in a while.

A good BBQ gun and holster now is what I need. It doesn't matter what I think of a Glock, or even a Glock wrapped in sharkskin, because it is still a Glock and ugly. lol

Get those pictures up when you get time. Be interested to see your grandfathers rifle

Sadly, I had several guns that my Grandfather passed to me that were stolen by a meth head relative. For whatever reason, he left the 1890. One small bright spot in his drugged mind.
He will get out in 10 years or so if he is on good behavior.

Winchester Model 62A

Haven't shot this one, it is pretty much a safe queen. It was one of my grandpa's old guns

Well it took me several years to find this one! I saw a mess but most were not in very good shape. Reason I got it my uncle when I was real young would give me a box of 22 shorts and give me a nickle for every nasty bird I shot, the one I shot while a kid is long gone but I found one that is real close! a friend I go shoot tree rats with hates me to bring it it's my little Winchester 67

Then there is the 10/22 but it's out of it's normal dress

It normally looks like this in it's pasture maggot killing mode

Wish I had some more of the older 22's they are just fun to shoot! Later,

Kirk

Terrible I know. I had my grandfathers 12ga stolen. Nothing special except being my grandfathers. Some folks with or without a drug problem are real sorry individuals.

Nice.

KSMIRK - nice rifles. I started I think with a Springfield Single Shot and shot mostly shorts out of it. I would like to find one like I started off with as well.

I actually have a rifle my grandfather gave me a long time ago, its a winchester WRF, the pump action 22 with extra long rounds, Its a great little rifle and a blast to shoot. We have a problem with the firing pin a while back and we took it in for repair and I guess whoever worked on it end up messing up the end of the barrel somehow and tried to rifinish it, and failed. It has the octagonal barrel and is dated somwhere around the early 1900s as it was the 1890 design...even though its not worth much in dollar value, I could ever get rid of it.
