Rifle Compensator Testing and Reviews

I just picked up a Rolling Thunder and have a couple questions: Jesse or Rusty - when you installed the comp did you use a crush washer and was it difficult...or is this installation something that should be left to a pro? Next, does this comp limit me to the "open" class only because of the length? I would prefer to stay in tactical iron for a while since I am relatively new to the sport.

When I went to the Brownells website I saw their specs verbiage said that the Rolling Thunder was for Open. So I emailed out good buddy Larry Weeks at Brownells. Here is what he figured out in a matter of minutes and is having that Open division wording removed from their description.

On removing the “open” note from the Rolling Thunder copy: Yes the comp is 3.5” long and the rule says 3”. BUT, the 3” is measured from the end of the barrel. So, you screw the comp on and ½” of it is on the threads leaving only 3” protruding past the end of the barrel. USPSA Appendix E1, current rule set.
