recommendations for first time AR shopper

I figure this will be my only AR...so the 3g is on the way! Now for optics??
I'm pretty satisified with my Burris MTAC 1-4. I got a great deal on it, and it was in my budget. I also like the Vortex optics I've seen, but starts out for a bit more coin. Figure at least a C note for a good mount, too. On of my favorite features on the MTAC is that I don't have to use the lighted reticle. I'm sure there are much better optics, but I haven't outgrown mine yet. Personally, I don't buy anything that only offers marginal improvement over what I have.

I always buy the SPR-E mount. I probably have 10 of them. They work with everything and they are rock solid. Always easy to sell if you ever wanted to. LT104 is good but some scopes need to be pushed further forward to get proper eye relief if you run your nose up towards the charging handed like I do.

Good deal thanks Jesse! Btw ill take one off your hands if you want to get rid of 1. Having 9 is way cooler than having 10!

Congrats, you'll love it! I recommend the Vortex Viper 1-4x. Great quality low magnification scope for under $500.

that's funny
it takes a little coin but guns multiply like rabbits
You made a good choice
I reckon. We have dumped a bit over $10K on guns not including ammo in the last 12 months, If only we had time to use them when the range is open

For my first AR I went with the Ruger SR556, its a pretty good first time AR a bit on the heavy side. I use it for 3gun matches for now and it shoots well, piston driven to boot. only disadvantages are the price & weight.

If your local Wal-Mart has them, snag one up. They have a Sig Sauer 500 I think here for like less than $600. Plus the DPMS rifles here ain't to bad.

I just sold off 2 (and I am out) of the Stag 3g's. Customers are happy and both are going to be used for different purposes. One is a Coyote killer and the other a 3 gunner. I priced building out a 3G for another customer, and we quickly figured it was actually cheaper to buy this one complete.
