Recommend my next rifle upgrade

Based on advice received here, I am going to stay in tac irons for the time being. However, I had set aside a few hundred for a scope and mount. Now that money is burning a hole in my pocket

I would love to go buy a whole new 3 gun rifle but that's not in the budget right now. I'm running a 16" m4 gery right now

I'm thinking a muzzle brake or new trigger. Anyone think one would be more beneficial than the other or am I missing something?

I'm curious to hear your input on this. If u have specific gear recommendations I'd like to hear it

Get both ballin on a budget miculek comp and a cmc drop in trigger. That's about 200 bucks well spent

Save the money for a new rifle. Upgrading the one you want to replace always ends up with you losing more money when u sell it. Ask me how I know.

If you keep the original parts, both of those are easily removed and could be reused when/if you build a new rifle. Unless you were to buy something that already had them, like the Stag 3G.

Which, unless you have an attachment to the m4gery, you could sell it, add the couple hundred, and be pretty close to a budget 3 Gun build.

If you think you will be able to save more and get a new, more 3Gun concentric rifle, then try to save longer to get that. If you are doing well now with your current setup, a trigger and a comp will probably make the most difference but not much. So, if you can, try to save up for a new rifle but if you can't wait, I would go with a trigger and comp as your next upgrades, assuming your rifle is 100% reliable. If not, spend it on getting it reliable.

I agree with Kurt
there are lots of triggers out there with a 2-3.5 pound trigger pull, this is much better than a 5-7 lb mil-spec trigger. Show up to a match and ask around everbody has an opinion and a trigger you can pull just ask.

As for Comps I put a Rolling Thunder on an old 16in AR carbine and wow I was impressed with the difference. On a rolling thunder if the muzzle is rising you can tune your comp by drilling the upper port. Miculek comp if you are on a tight budget or Rolling Thunder or titan if you want to pay more.

The trigger and the comp can always be pulled off and put on the next rifle or sold.

If you plan on a different uppper reciever, barrel, handguard or gas block it may be cheaper in the long run to sell this setup and build or buy what your are looking for.

There are a handful of guys out there shooting DPMS sporticals with only a comp and a trigger for upgrades. This seams like a pratical low cost way of getting started to me.

Assuming your rifle is reliable, my vote would go to the trigger. Otherwise, you should spend the money on getting whatever you need to make it reliable. The best trigger out there won't help if the rifle doesn't run.

Other than that, the extra funds could also be used for ammo/practice, practice, practice or even better.....TRAINING.

I recall a saying back in the day before lawyers stepped into the rifle business and that was "a rifle is only as good as the trigger" couldn't be more than true, comps are nice! didn't think I'd really notice anything on the little 223 but it does help a bit with follow-up shots but like I've always been told if ya hit it the first time you don't need that follow up shot lol think about it the close double tap targets are 2 on paper, those targets are pretty good sized so while a comp is nice and all the cool kids have one I'd say go with a good trigger first.

Truth I think you'd be better if you just stashed that cash away, shot a few rifles and figured out what you like then do your best to build the rifle you want. It's no fun to wait but I hear patience is a virtue and I think you'll be happier in the long run. Later,
