For those of you who like to chunk pumpkin-size chunks of lead while making a great cloud of smoke, you know there has been a distinct surfeit of the Real McCoy down in SC. Now you might say that you can run and get pyrodex, but that's not going to cut it for the flintlocker's out there. Well your worries are over. http://WWW.Mainepowderhouse.com has what you need in great quantity. I took a trip to Chris Clark's (no relation) shop in Limington, ME to get my powder, but for those of you down there, if you order 25 pounds or 50 pounds, he will take care of not only the shipping, but the hazmat as well. In a nutshell, Goex Rifle powder is 16 bucks a pound. 25# =400 dollars even... Beats the snot out of paying more for cruddy pyrodex.

Also on a side note... I will be starting another group buy for Pete Plunkett http://www.middlesexvillagetrading.com here in the near future. I'll have a wholesale pricelist shortly, so take a look and see if there is anything that catches your fancy... SC orders can be had for no tax (Live free or die, NH!) and no shipping if you like, as I'll be making a trip home in November.

very neet. i may have to buy some.

i have access to a Navy Dragoon but i forget how many Fs was recomended.

it seems like it was 3 F or 4 F.

is 1F and 2F for the bigger projectiles?

We cowboy action shooters who load with smokeless are beating the bushes for pistol powder. My friends who shoot black powder keep telling me that "real" powder is available. The no shipping or hazmat makes this pretty attractive.

I shot a four stage black powder side match in March and had a lot of fun. A friend provided guns and the BP ammo. After match cleanup was much easier than one might expect.

If this pistol powder drought lasts much longer I may have to "come over to the Dark Side"!

Tigerstripe,

Your Dragoon is meant for 3F

1F = Cannons, and some blackpowder metallic cartridges (mostly the big'uns like 45-70 and up)
2F Rifles and muskets
3F Pistols and Revolvers
4F Very small pistols .32 cal and smaller, and priming for Firelocks.

and you can get all those and some inbetween sizes from Chris.

thanks, that sounds familiar. its a friends dragonof but im sure he doesnt have a line on real black powder.

if he still has it we used to hunt primative with a 45 cal smoothbore, kentucky type with caps.
