At our recent Women on Target at the Ponca City Range, the .22 rimfire director used 2 liter soda bottles filled with the spray foam insulation, as reactive targets. They were suspended by a small string.
Good cheap targets, with no residue trashing out the range.
Great Idea!
Don't know how they would survive a centerfire though.
After the lady's were gone, the instructors tried to shoot the bottles down by shooting the strings. It didn't happen!
Hundreds of rounds later the bottles still hung. some of the strings showing hits with a little shredding, but still intact.
One of the guys saw a test by Myth Busters trying to simulate the same thing as the old western movies where a guy shoots a rope, so a guy doesn't get hung. They couldn't do it.
Anyway, those might be some good targets to try. Cheap.
