I picked up my new Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9mm today. I bought it in Florida and had it shipped to HHB Guns in Summerville. Thanks Henry.

I went to the range in West Ashley that I have a membership with. Took 100 rounds of target loads.

The pistol is GREAT..I love it. It feels just like my full sized M&P 9mm...

I have a small 9mm Kahr P9- A Glock 26 and a Keltec PF9...and a Kimber 3" .45...They all shoot great....but...the only thing close to the Shield is the KImber...And...it cost $1000.00

The trigger on the Shiel is as smooth as anything I have ever shot..(in this price range of pistols)

It needed no break in. It is smooth as glass..It truly feels just like the full sized M&P 9mm trigger...

If you get a chance, you need to try this weapon. You will love it...Also, it will be at the Shootzenfest for anyone who would like to try it out.

i liked it also.

i, and i know my wife too, would want the extended mags for the pinky rest.

i think she might be able to rack it too. she has trouble with that.

thanks fordnut.

Of all the new super compacts out there I would love to get my hands on a Shield in 9mm. That and a G27 and im good to go for ultra carry.

I just got a Shield, shot it for the first time at ShootzenFest.
I really like it.
Carries like dream on my belt.
Like the PF9 it's a bit big for a pocket.

Well...I just bought another Shield in 9mm..It is brand new. Wonder how long It will stay around...

They are great shooters...

I picked one of these up in 9mm about a month ago as the "wifes gun" . Got it for MSRP. Wife has trouble with the slide release but other than that is able to rack the slide and operate the pistol fine. I've put around 100 rounds down the pipe with fair accuracy and i do like the trigger, seem to be smoothing out nicely. This is my first experience with smaller framed pistols and was supprised at my lack of accuracy compaired to the mid and full size models (even a close range 15 yards). I did have the oppritunity to compare it side by side to my dads glock 26. I was much more accurate with the g26 but feel better about the wife having an external safety on the sheild (although i know advantages and disadvanteges of a safety in defensive situations). The only other thing about the g26 I liked better was ease of take down, although they both are pretty simple. As soon as we complete our ccw course I'm going to have to decide on if another shield is in the mix or a g26 for next purchase. I would love to carry my p-01 but it is a little to large and heavy. I have been planting the seed of getting a Kimber ultra carry II but i have not shot one and dont know if the wife would like the price, although she thinks most of my stuff i buy is 25% less than what i paid for

Edit: anyone have a chance to compare the shield to and xds yet?

I shot my new Shield .40 for the first time at shootzenfest. It made sense for me to get a .40 because I don't have any 9mm firearms and have a few other .40's and a great supply of ammo i bought on the cheap before the big ammo rush kicked in.

It definitely kicks a little, but nothing my large frame self has any issue with handling.

Went to the range again with the shield today. 50 rounds Dow the pipe with 2 failure to eject. Case up in battery with mag round sticking spent case. 150 rounds with 3 failures :( 115 gr ball 9mm. The first failure I contribute to fluke as the case spun 180 and caught the slide but today. After first range session stripped and oil, I tend to over oil. Could this be the problem? Btw this gun gets better and better, wife kicked my butt.

Range Report On My New Shield.

I have not fired this new one yet....but, the first one I had had maybe 1000 rounds thru it. It was fussy about ammo at first. It liked 147 grain ball ammo the most...I had a few problerms with self-defense stuff. Went to just ball ammo, and, it worked great.

Last time I had it out, we ran 100 rounds of 147 ball, and, it never had any problems.

I hape that after I get this one broken in, it will run like the first one...Should have kept it. It was broken in...
