I have never seen a pro shooter, shot sti guns, unless they were sponsored by them, and I happen to know that even those guns dont have all sti parts in them. simply put all the semi-pro and hobby shooters love sti for one reason, they are CHEAP.
The owner of sti, Cares about 1 thing, money.... SVI is the staple of 2011 guns, every race, limited or open gun I have built has been on SVI chassis with caspain frames. now for those here that think they have a pro style gun, and it's an sti in 40 cal, you are wrong. all the pros shot 9x23 or 9x25 and they are svi chassis's and highly modified and cost way more than 2200.00 bucks out the door.
You would be better off with a rock island than and sti single stack, reason, you save about 300.00 bucks for the same damn gun.
Thanks,
A
I wont dispute that SVI builds extremely nice guns. They are (rightfully) very proud of their stuff and they do not sell frames to other builders.
So, most pro's have their builders use STI frames and slides for their custom builds. Very few pros are actually sponsored by STI and I'd say that none of them use a factory STI. People dont shoot STI's because they're cheap. We shoot them because the 2011 platform is available from STI and SVI only at this time. SVI's are expensive (and worth it) and if you want a custom job from Cyrwus, Kevin, Camerons, Millenium, Cheely, whoever, its going to have to be on an STI.
Caspians widebody has few fans, and is a rarity on the circuit. Mostly due to magazine capacity and the weird grip.
The owners of STI should care about money. This is America, we run on capitalism. Period.
When you say you've built 2011 guns on SVI 'chassis' do you mean slides or frames? As previously mentioned, Brandon Strayer doesnt provide frames for builds, I've asked him.
"now for those here that think they have a pro style gun, and it's an sti in 40 cal, you are wrong. all the pros shot 9x23 or 9x25 and they are svi chassis's..."
This is one of the most incorrect statements I've ever read on this forum. The average "pro style" Limited gun is a custom built STI-based 2011 in .40 in fact they're all in .40 because of Major power factor scoring requirements. 9x23 or 9x25 dont qualify for Major in Limited. Nobody shoots those ancient calibers anymore in Open either. Maybe they did 10 years ago, I dont know.
You dont like STI, fine. But they are the dominant force in 2011 platform guns on the competition circuit.
