We drove to Columbia yesterday for the Guns Across America rally at the statehouse. I must say, the turnout was not as big as I had hoped. A few hundred people (maybe 500?) was all that showed. As many people as I've heard "they won't take my firearms", there should have been many many more. State Senator Lee Bright and a state rep (didn't catch his name) spoke, and spoke well of our need to restore state's rights and return to the Constitution as the basis for government.

Was a little disappointed in the turnout is all.

Just my two cents.

im very dissapointed.

i offered twice, saying i would have 3 empty seats.

sorry i have video, i think there may have been a few over 200 people.

we have 1300 people listed as members. were there 4 that showed up? thats great.

because of the turnout it doesnt even have to be reported as news.

Damn.

Well, 500 is probably an over stated number. Youre probably closer to right. Drove down from spartanburg... I was disappointed in turnout too. (On a side note, I stopped at Philson Crossroads Range to check it out. Nice setup)

Just looked at pics I took yest from the rally, I'd say your number closer to right than mine.

WHERE WAS EVERYBODY?

1000 people MIGHT have made a statement.

if it was like SC around the country we deserve to a ban.

I would've been there but my eight-year-old was too busy to make me a sign out of flourescent paper, markers and glitter.

hahahaha wowowowow rofl

its not funny.

why didnt you go get a real picture from Columbia?

i didnt need a sign.

And this is proof of what I have said for a while... If you couldn't be bothered to show up at the state house or even a gun shop throwing a party (thank you D&R gunsmithing) then do you really think if they do come for your guns that you are going to be mr bad a$$..... Naah didn't think so.

my presence was my sign.

NY took it serious. AFTER they were banned. will you come to a rally after your guns are banned? too late.

watch "UTAH" post.

Awww, the apathy. No wonder the ruling party gets away with so much.

If you vote (support in voice) or pay taxes (support with funding) then you who exactly is this "ruling party" that you're referencing?

If you can't be bothered to do something productive then no wonder you think standing around doing nothing (in a group of 200!) is effective. The Founding Fathers (of all nations) must surely be proud of you and the sweeping change you brought!

NY has had an Assault Weapons Ban (sic) for many years. All they did (recently) was lower the capacity from 10 round to 7 rounds and make it a requirement that within a year you have to sell all grandfathered magazines.

If NY took it so seriously then why did they double-down on their pre-existing Assault Weapons Ban (sic) ?

Want restrictions? Try it up here- limited lists of firearms available and a pre 1986 ban on "assault weapons and high cap mags" in effect(not to mention ANY weapons newer than 1986 subject to the aforementioned list), coupled with hopscotch laws from city to town statewide. Most of those Executive Orders are pretty much what we have and background checks happen ALL the time. Private sales require paperwork sent in, even when involving gun shops- I know this first hand, a sale from the mid 1980s came back on me 5 years ago! What are these gun shows you speak of?

Sometimes I shake my head at people whining about rights when even a freaking slingshot is verboten up here. When all this started opening up, some of y'all were saying you had gotten rid of or were about to get rid of your firearms and gear. NOTHING has even happened yet(except in Noo Yok, which I KNOW y'all couldn't give a possum's pecker about), keeping up with the e-mails and other paperwork to your reps and the powers that be is better than standing out in the cold to be put on youtube or photoed as "those gun nuts".

My rant is over, I'm tired and wish we could actually make our votes count up here. Finally had a while without any Kennedys in politics here but rumor has it Teddy's son is possibly following in his footsteps. Combined with Obama's #1 Apostle Deval Patrick, Mumbles Menino and the merry Demokrat zombies, life is a daily hell. I can't get out of here and can't even get handouts like the zombies always get...

I wish the bus would stop veering away when I step in front of it!

So what would you have us do ...riot in the streets? Yeah that would really be effective at this point, all that does is add fuel to the gun nut fire.

Five sick people in my house, one if them a toddler, two of them babies. Couldn't do it. If it had been a weekday, I might have given a better effort between vomiting and diahria.

I will be going down for some committee meetings to support bills. Who's going with me?
