This is going to come across as a stupid question to some but I really don't know or I wouldn't be asking. What is 3-gun competition? Furthermore, how many rifle competitions are there in the state, such as long range? I have quite a bit of training to do before I'd be ready for something like that but I'm definitely interested. Thanks for the info!

A 3-gun competition is just that 3 guns.
You use a rifle, a pistol & a shotgun.
It's probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on & even then it comes in a very close second.
Most stages will only be 2 guns, say a shotgun/pistol stage but there are times when all 3 will be used on 1 stage. The matches we have at OKC Gun Club usually consist of 4-5 stages. We'll usually wrap up around 3:00p starting at around 10:00a. The round count will vary from match to match. Last monthe the minimum round count (not counting misses) was about 125 Rifle, 30 Bird, 3 Buck, 3 Slug, and 40 pistol. There are videos of 3 gun on Jesse's you tube channel, Check those out & you'll be frothing at the mouth for some 3 gun action. As said many times, don't let gear keep you from participating. Lot's of us have extra for those that need it.

USPSA and 3-gun are practical shooting. The rifle match at USSA and OKCGC are, too. It's basically running and gunning. If you want to see what we do I say check out Jesse's youtube channel. He's got clips from the rifle matches as well as the 3-gun matches.

There is usually one long stage at the rifle and 3-gun matches depending on the facilities. At OKCGC and USSA, the farthest bay is 300 yards, so max range is typically 300 yards. At some bigger 3-gun matches it can get out to 500 yds.

There are maybe a couple sniper matches in the area in the course of an entire year, but I don't know anything about them. Jesse and Steve A. (mostly Steve) might be more help there.

What they said. I saw one group on Snipers hide dedicated to long range shooting in OK but I couldn't find them online. Aryan runs in the Snipr group up around here. I hope he's listening.

I'd love to get them on here to teach us more. How much fun would it be to shoot a 4 gun match? A .308 or whatever for 500+ for 3-5 rounds then transition to a carbine for 50-500, then go to the shotty for CQB to 150 then get the sidearm out to finish up. I just got a boner typing that.
