The little 9s are so particular in terms of shooter, that it is worth the time and money to go to a range that has several to rent and shoot whatever they have.
I shot a PF9, Kahr something, Ruger LC9, and a Shield. I bought a Shield because it was the best shooting gun to me. Everyone makes a pocket 9 now, so there is no reason not to shop around, and the extra $100-$150 you may spend from a kel-tec to a S&W or Beretta may make a huge difference in your ability to shoot it accurately and repeatedly. If you are buying the gun for defensive carry, you are staking your life on it. Don't scrimp. Having said that, if any particular gun in the category fits you better, don't worry so much about the reliability/accuracy etc. as they are all functionally the same. PF9 having pin shearing issues may be the exception, because 9mm Parabellum was defined as a 124-grain FMJ... anything that can't handle the recoil of a non-plus-P 124 load is engineered peculiarly.
