So was at my local match today and it had rained hard last night so muddy as all hell. Well I decided to wear some nice running shoes...... got through the first 2 stages ok slid a lot of set up stage three did the shotgun part fine and the rifle part on the way back to the bench to drop the rifle off to go to pistol slide some how managed to get the rifle on safe onto the table before I went sliding under it. After I got up and finished the stage the RO in training said I should of went down with the rifle instead of getting it on the table. Did I do the right thing or should I have went down with the rifle just was a off comment to me to be like you should of kept the rifle...

Hard too say. Typically you see rifles and shotguns grounded in very securely staked down barrels, not on tables.

Ya we had a dump barrel for the shottie just the rifle was coming off a table with up rights on it to hold the rifle in place.

If the rifle was properly on the drop table on safe before you went down, I don't see the problem.
