I am excited to announce that the first Oklahoma Appleseed of the new year will be in my home town of Stillwater, at the new Camo Corner surplus shop and gun range.

For those who don't know, Appleseed is a volunteer organization dedicated to turning this country back into a nation of Riflemen, and to promoting our country's revolutionary heritage. When we talk about a "nation of Riflemen," we aren't simply talking about promoting rifle ownership -- we already have a lot of that in this country. What we are after is more rifle owners who are SKILLED and EFFECTIVE in the use of their rifles. An Appleseed weekend marksmanship clinic is designed to teach all the skills necessary for a shooter to control the "Rifleman's Quarter Mile" -- meaning the ability to hit any man-sized target within 500 yards -- meaning being able to consistently shoot 4 minutes of angle or less from field positions without the help of a solid rest, using only a sling for support.

At Appleseed, our benchmark is the Army Qualification Test (an older version of it from the 50s and 60s, when it was harder). Anyone who can shoot Expert on the AQT is awarded our prestigious Rifleman's patch, and is eligible to be a volunteer Instructor in Training with our organization to help promote the heritage of marksmanship. Come see how you stack up on the AQT and find out whether you're unqualified, a marksman, a sharpshooter, or an expert (a Rifleman)!

Whether you are a skilled shooter who has a lot of training and experience under his belt, a novice, or anyone in between, you will get a lot out of an Appleseed weekend. You can participate with any safe rifle -- but an adjustable sling is highly recommended, as we focus a lot on the use of a sling as a marksmanship aid. Rimfire rifles are fine as well -- many shooters use .22s to save on ammo costs. The course of fire is optimized for rifles that load quickly... such as from a clip or detachable magazine... but we have a procedure that allows tube feed rifles to keep up as well.

At every Appleseed, we also tell the amazing true story of April 19, 1775 -- the day the colonists of Massachusetts Bay committed felonious treason against their country and took up arms against the most well-disciplined military in the world, and put the colonies on the path to become independent nations free from foreign rule. If you haven't been to an Appleseed before, odds are you haven't heard this story in the detail we tell it in -- which is a shame, because it is a story every American should know.

Most of the event is shot at 25m, but we will take interested shooters to the 100 yard range on Sunday.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I hope to see lots of Boomer Shooter folk there!

I move and now you do it... :onthequiet:
Good excuse to come back for a visit!

We're about to go five days out on this event and there are still slots available. Get yours now. See you on the line!

This is an excellent way to brush up on your fundamentals and improve your shooting. At $60 for the weekend, you can't beat the price anywhere for this kind of training. Everyone from beginners to intermediate to expert shooters will benefit from this course. Also you will hear some history and heritage that you never learned in school, but which every American should know. I hope to see some of y'all there!
