Prepper convention in SC

is it like a gun show?

we can find and buy the stuff "we" forget to look for when "I" look for stuff?

if so that sounds good. i always forget something at the gun shows too.

they do say that they will have vendors there so i imagine that the opportunity to spend money will be given :)
From what I've seen online of other similar conventions there will be symposiums on various topics too. Yay!

"Solarchef1 has assembled an outstanding line up of well known YOU TUBE speakers..."

That kinda makes me wonder.

I would park somewhere else, walk there, and use cash. Not that I'm paranoid or anything...

Would also not recommend talking to any hot dog vendors with superbowl shirts on ;)

I can understand your feelings, there's so many "armchair preppers" on youtube. One of the speakers there is The Patriot Nurse, whose youtube channel I subscribe to. She's very logical and her information is supported by the information I was taught in the pre-nursing program that I was enrolled in.
I know that two other speakers, engineer775 and southernprepper1 are pretty well respected, engineer775 is the gentleman who designed and implemented the wood powered truck, he and southernprepper1 have partnered together and built a good youtube channel.
The way I see it, there's people speaking whose videos I find informative and I'd like to hear more from, tickets are pretty cheap, and if nothing else it'll be fun to get out of the house and meet new people at the convention so even if it ends up being a bust, it's still worth investigating.

il be there iv personally met both engineer775 and southernprepper1 both great guys both are very knowledgeable in there own rights .they are far from the Armchair elitists as you can get .. and there both South Carolina gun owners :)... with that said i really would like to meet and talk to patriotnurse she has a great medical YT channel and there is so much more id like to learn from her

i would like to go.....but i got a feeling i'll hear more of the same.go buy stuff i can't afford to tie my money up in.

I was there too. You're right, not much gun stuff was discussed, but I learned a lot about water storage, solar power, and other interesting things. Like you are allowed to dig a well in SC and you don't have to contract with a drilling company to do it.

overall it was well worth attending. lots of good info, and yeah, vendors were there. but they were selling survivial supplies (I only found one table that had me going yup, got that / can get that at wallys' for half the price) and some of them were items that are genuinely worth picking up. the seminars were very usefull, espicially the water storage, power, and medical sessions. I can do trauma medicine all day long, but i picked up a lot of useful medical info (trauma is your hurt (broken bones), medical is your sick (the flu), just for anyone who does not know the difference). the people who got up and spoke were not your run of "armchair generals" that someone mentioned as possible speakers. Pracitical Preppers (Water, power, and security seminars) are a SC based company that consults with NatGeo for the doomsday prepper show, Patriot nurse is a practicing nurse, that sort of thing. people who actually use the skills they teach, and practice what they preach, in other words.

LOL, that's sooo true however I have installed many wells some with the hand auger kit shown and it ain't no fun but it can be done. But you still have to register the well and all the specs with DHEC. Unregistered wells give them bad gas LOL. Have to say I did enjoy the presentations. I thought they were quite good, well the solar presentation bored the crap out of me but all the rest were top notch. I touched base with Solarchef, email, after the event about meeting other Preppers in the area and she said they just ran out time and couldn't get that done. But there will be other events in the area. She mentioned the 9-12 group, which meets every week I believe. They talk politics one week and prepping the next. She was going email me the info; I believe they are in the Lexington area. Say thanks for the original post as I said earlier I did have fun.

I don't know anything about that church but IMHO it had a strong "preparedness" orientation. I didn't attend their church classes, too busy drooling over that well pumping system that was on display at the "Practical Preppers" table. I am already doing Amateur Radio (KI4VGQ) so no need there. So I really can't offer an opinion with any authority or first hand experience. Sorry :| .
