I picked up a Rock Island Armory, 1911A1. 9MM. a week and a half ago. Nice pistol for the money IMHO. I put 225 rds. through it on the first range trip I used 115 gr. FMJ's, UMC, Fiocchi, and Rem Greenbox. Not one single malfunction, came with 1 9 rd mag. I wanted to keep in practice with my 1911 but didn't want deficit level ammo costs. Any thoughts?

Where did you find that 9mm 1911?

Why not a .22 conversion kit?

I went with a 9mm instead of a 22 conversion, because it's what I wanted. I found the 1911 9mm @ budsgunshop.com. GI model was the one I went for.

I also have a RIA 9mm, and I love that gun. Sometimes it goes to show you can't judge a gun by a price tag. I could see looking at thinner grips, but out of the box, it is just super fun. I'm very happy with the reliability and accuracy.

I put Pachmyr wrap around with the finger grooves on it to soften the feel. They work well, it's just that I like the Hogue alot better as far as cosmetic feel. Not that any recoil taming is needed on a 9MM 1911, it's just for asthetic reasons.

One other thing about it is, Winchester Ranger SXT, 147 gr. JHP's feed and eject with no problems in this pistol right out of the box. I haven't tried any other brands, but maybe I won't need to.
