A friend who is a little further along the path of hand loading for .300 Blackout told me that H-110 is one of the preferred powders, but it is kind of hard to find. This morning I wandered into Mauldin Arms for the first time in probably three months; they now have a small supply of reloading components; on the counter just inside the door they had a can of H-110. When I approached the checkout counter I saw a second can in the back. I figured "strike while the iron is hot" and purchased both containers.

It pays to keep your eyes open.

Perhaps for supers but I recently tried some W296 under 125 BT's and it was a total fail. VV N110 worked much better but I still have work to do with this load.

For subs I've been happy with 4227 and of course 1680. Good luck with your project.

I didn't mean to sound all negative about your score, really just ranting becasue I don't know what in the world I did to cause my ejection problems.

I've loaded subs for years but this was my first real attempt at supers with light bullets.

Things seem to be improving in terms of powder availability so before long you'll have several cans staring you in the face when you decide to take a seat at the reloading bench.

so whats your 300BLK subsonic load?

Take your pick, I settled for 4227 at 10.0 for now. I think 4227 sounds better than 1680 and is a bit cleaner burning. No FPS numbers since my chrono somehow acquired a hole through it.
As always what's safe in my gun may not be safe in yours. YMMV

208 Hornady AMAX with IMR 4227 @ 10.0 grains
Need to chrono but appears subsonic
Cycled & locked bolt open with CAR stock and Enidine buffer.

208 Hornady AMAX with 1680 @ 10.1 grains
Need to chrono but appears subsonic
Cycled & locked bolt open with full size A2 stock and standard rifle buffer.

208 Hornady Amax with 1680 @ 10.3 grains
936, 977, 995 FPS = 969 average
Cycled with heavy 9mm buffer in CAR stocked lower.

208 Hornady Amax with 1680 @ 10.5 grains
Only checked 2 rds - 1006 & 1061 FPS, these were loaded shorter than the rest
Cycled with heavy 9mm buffer in CAR stocked lower.

225 Hornady Match with VV N110 @ 8.5 grains
1071, 1051, 1045, 1067 FPS = 1058 average
Cycled but did not lock bolt with heavy 9mm buffer in CAR stocked lower.

225 Hornady Match with 1680 @ 10.0 grains
966, 927, 973, 993, 940, 942 FPS = 956 average
Cycled with heavy 9mm buffer in CAR stocked lower.

225 Hornady Match with 1680 @ 10.1 grains
Need to chrono but appears subsonic
Cycled & locked bolt open with full size A2 stock and standard rifle buffer.

225 Hornady Match with 1680 @ 10.3 grains (Remington cases)
FPS = 973, 976, 986 (75? temp)
FPS = 938, 945, 981 - these were crimped with the Lee FCD.
Cycled & locked bolt open with full size A2 stock and standard rifle buffer.

225 Hornady Match with 1680 @ 10.5 grains (Remington cases)

Clicker, thanks for sharing the info. At this point I'm still trying to decide on barrel length but I will save your information for future reference.

We could not get 4227 to cycle. Sounds great for sub, and single shot. It would eject the shell but not catch the bullet to cycle.

We just released our 208gr sub a max. It cycles great and is shooting around 1060-1080fps. I like to get as much velocity as I can and still be subsonic. It makes shooting varmints easier.

16" barrel with suppressor
