Potentially dumb question about Aimpoint 3x

I recently purchased an Aimpoint 3x magnifying module and put it on an AR I've got with an Aimpoint M68 red-dot scope. The two aren't on the same level, and the magnifier sits higher up. The scope is on a factory mount, and the magnifier is on a factory twist mount.

I have a second rifle that has another M68 on it, but it's on a LaRue mount. The magnifier doesn't sit level with it, either. Am I missing something? Do I need to buy a new mount for one or the other that will make it sit at the right height?

Not dumb at all. If it is the same mount I remember having on my service M4, there is a spacer that goes under the scope to co-witness. When we mob'd and first got the M68's the arms room kept saying this was an extra part but unlike them, I read the TM manual and it clearly showed on the M4 you had to use the spacer to line the red dot with the iron sights or any other devises. Part number for the spacer is AIM-10566, the mount is AIM-11884. Here is one for $20.00. http://store.a51tactical.com/index.php? ... di2pski054 On backorder but I googled this phrase "Aimpoint 10566 Spacer for QRP/QRW and Twist Mount" and looks like you can get them in a lot of places.

Hope that helps.

I think this is going to get me on the right track. Was that spacer included with the M68 or acquired separately? I bought my optic used, so I'm trying to figure out where to pick one up.

My Aimpoint had a different type of mount but same principle. Should be available from Aimpoint for not a whole lot of money.

Does yours have the kill flash? You said you got it used so it may or may not. It's the honey comb plastic...thing... that screws in to the front lens. If you don't have one, I think I have an extra laying around somewhere.
