reviewing threads on this forum, I'm a bit surprised @ the lack of input from those visiting this site.
My latest adventures in reloading involve a discovery on some composite bullets that are currently on the market. Using a copper/polymer matrix, lighter-than-usual bullet weights ( per caliber ) have been created. The bullets I've tried were made by a company called Inceptor. They produced loaded ammo for sale, using these bullets. They were what I'd describe as "Premium Priced" ammo. Perhaps because of their price, I suspect sales didn't meet their expectations, & perhaps for that reason, their proprietary bullets came on the market as components for sale. After reading about them, I decided to try a few. I purchased a couple rifle bullets & about 4 different handgun bullets. Since this is the "rifle" thread, I'll mention the 1st rifle pill I tried.
I should add the site I discovered that sells these bullets is called Raven Rocks Precision.com
Since my 1st few orders, that company started a website & blog, where people could post their loads, results of their experiments & requests for products they'd like to see offered.
One of my favorite rifles I enjoy shooting is an AR-15 w/ a 7.62 X 39 upper..16" barrel. This round, though considered a 30 cal. actually shoots a .310" dia bullet, rather than a .308" because of this, I've learned there's not a lot of bullets made in this dia. ( Though Hornady makes a good one, when you can find them)
I poste a suggestion for a bullet in .310 " size. A post was later made saying there was a 30 cal. composite bullet that was .310" & the poster had used in his 7.62 X 39 loads.
Ordered some. Discovered they are 88 gr. vs. normal 123 gr. used in 7.62 X 39. Load data was provided by Inceptor ..used H-110 powder (only) Since that's my best / favorite 44 Mag powder, I had some on hand to use. The normal velocity for a factory rnd in this cal is around 2400-2500 fps +/-
With Inceptors data, the 88 gr pill is pushed to around 2800fps+ according to Inceptor data.
Loaded some rds., shot them, & discovered several things, (that are also true for the Inceptor handgun bullets I've tried)

1st.. the felt recoil is less, despite the high velocity. 2nd..the brass cases are ejected completely, even @ starting charges (at least in all my weapons) though brass isn't thrown nearly as far as with heavier bullet loads. 3rd.) Probably most important, IMO, is that accuracy is very good - great.
