Thanks for the comments guys. I started with a Model 19-4 in 2005 and won the Stock Service Revolver division at the IDPA Nationals with that gun the same year. It was the first year they split the moon clip guns off into ESR. Miculek won ESR of course, but I did beat him on 4 stages!
I switched to the 686 the next year because I got a good deal on it and it already had a Randy Lee trigger job. The 19 drives faster between targets and is much easier to hit a fast reload on. The 686 has better split times and stays flatter on the recoil. I was getting about 1 second draws from concealment with the 19 and about 1.05-1.1 on the 686. As stated, the reloads are a little slower on the L frame bu about .1 or so, but the splits are much faster. The 19 ran about .22 splits and the 686 about .18 to .19 on a 7 yd target with zero down.
I've shot a little ICORE, but IDPA is my comfort zone.
