If a law has any exemption for police or government agencies does that automatically mean that it is a tyrannical law and, as such, morally, ethically, unjust and unConstitutional?

It has been falsely claimed that Thomas Jefferson (PBUH) once said "Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry."

Do you believe this? (not that Jefferson, praise be upon him, said it... just that the sentiment is accurate)

I do .. And that's the problem most Americans are so removed from how the rest of the world works...and even what got this country to be what it is or was that short of loosing everything I don't know that we will ever go in the correct direction again.. What is it they say when the Jews were freed that 20 percent left and the other 80 percent stayed.... I think that ratio still pertains today that most people would rather be sheep and go along with the status quo rather than be truly free and step into the unknown.

If you believe that all men are created equal then yes, it should be illegal for police if it is illegal for other non police. If someone has a badge given to them by the government that doesn't mean that they are above the law. It also doesn't mean that they should be given preferential treatment. To do so would be to believe that we are not equal but that they are above us.

And on the other hand if I'm doing 55 mph in a 45 mile-per-hour zone why is it okay for a police officer to do over 100 mph with no lights or sirens in order to apprehend me?

Well, wouldn't that apply to new machine guns then too? Police agencies can have freshly manufactured machine guns, civilians can not. Does that make those laws unjust, and unconstitutional meaning the citizenry can have brand new machine guns?

I was the EVOC (emergency vehicle oporators course) instructor for a number of years and the single most stressed point I made to new guys was this...
Exemptions are only legal in code status.
Meaning to laymen that a violation of the rules of the road, speed, turn signals, yeilding right of way ect did not HAVE to be followed during a CODED (lights and sirens) run , BUT IN THAT DUE REGARD WAS ALWAYS PARAMOUNT.
Yes, cops can speed and run red lights WHEN IN CODE STATUS but they must show due regard for safety while doing it.
I think the same fundamental principal should apply to all arenas.
No variance made UNLESS on duty.
In countries that are emerging into western style law enforcment the use of civilian dash cams is normal.
Here in the US we are so afraid of a badge and a gun that we dont call the police on thier BS.
If you see a cop driving 100 without codes, write down the car number and call the department shift supervisor or patrol Sgt.
Its that simple, just that people dont do it.

Normally I would agree with that... But I have been down that road with G.C. Police before... And all I got for a week was a run around of the supervisor wasn't in yet or he had just left or he wouldn't be able to call till 2200 or later it was a whole list of reasons not to talk to that detectives boss. Finally it turns into a thing of is it really worth this much of my time?

Not being worth the time to question is why we have Border Patrol check stations in TX and Arizona 150 miles from the US/Mexico Border.
Not being worth your time to question is why we have cops who ride around with cell phones stuck to thier heads, 150 pounds over weight, doing 50 in a 35.
Not being worth your time to question is why things are the way they are.

Exactly I don't know about you but I have 3 guys that work under me that I have to direct .keep production going and keep up with stock numbers on a lot of diffirent materials while workin 60. Hour weeks or more...so no I really don't have time to play phone tag with some dispatcher covering for a detective driving like a cucumber 10 miles out of his jurisdiction with in lights or siren in his green jeep Cherokee
