Let's say someone wanted to buy a lot of dust covers, 50+.....

Anyone got a good way to get em in bulk other than buying 6 packs at $18 a piece?

I did. The response was "please contact your nearest Magpul dealer."

I actually found 3-packs for 3.99 through Gunbot, but shipping just destroys it. For 30 dust covers, shipping was like $16 or something stupid.

Anyone think they're absolutely necessary for loaded mags in a sealed ammo can?

I think they are to mainly to relieve pressure on the feed lips - note they push the rounds down a bit. I had another polymag - Keltec I think - that I left loaded for a short time; it expanded so much that when I shoved it in, it got stuck halfway in my magwell. After I yanked it out with pliers, it went straight in the trash.

I have never had that issue with a Magpul, but then again I keep the "dust covers" on.

Anyone know why the mil banned PMags? Is it all Magpul or just the
mags?

PMAGS even have a NSN for direct unit ordering, so the knee-jerk ban went away pretty quickly.

Please note that Gen2 Pmags don't come with the covers, and have been left loaded for years with nary a problem.

Otherwise... ebay?

Military banned them after finding out they didnt work with some weapons. I believe it was the 416 and thats why there is third gen or new type of pmag. Something with the from of hks magwell. Also i hear some people have problems with 308 pmags
