Anyone tried one of the new Plum crazy recievers. Thanks to Hamman I heve just put one together.
Went together just like any other AR. Fits up to an antique A1 upper just fine. Mated up good. Does not seem to drop free my old steel mags. The newer "old stock" painted mags fell right out.
Later when I get to the range will give a range report.
Anyone else tried one yet?

Is it me or are the parts ie trigger, selector and such plastic?
Yes you are right. They are made of the same composite material that the reciever is made from.
I think everything will function fine. I am not so sure how long the hammer will last. That will be the weekest point. Or the partof the reciever just in front of the hammer. If the hammer overtravels it could impact that area.

I looked at several of my lowers and see no indication of over travel. Does this lower look like the plastic is thicker and more likely to be struck by the hammer? Does it look like you can use standard fire control parts if the plastic hammer is damaged?

LG, that shootin' iron looks lava hot!!! 8-)

Plastic, metallic, or whatever- if it operates as advertised, who gives a damn what it is made of!

I look forward to seeing some target shots from the range, or at least hearing about how it performs. The pics are greatly appreciated, sir.

I tried the Plum Crazy lower with my Del-Ton upper at Boggy Head today. It was amazingly light compared to some other M4's there. It felt solid and a no slop fit. I had to run a few rounds through to get the feel of the reduced weight. It shot without a hiccup to the 50yd and 100yd targets. The Brownell and surplus colt mags worked flawlessly. All in all, it is worth every cent of the 99.99 I paid for it. Now I have to build an upper for it. Yeah!!!!!!
I promise to bring it to the next shoot and let everybody try it out.

I picked up 5 sets a while back. The first one I built was an AR Pistol. Love the light weight and it makes the balance of the pistol just right. The polymer trigger group is self lubricating and so far has held up. After 500 to 600 rounds through it there is no sign of wear. Now if they would come out with a polymer upper!

Who is selling these lowers? I might just try one...I looked at Davids yesturday, but, was cooking hot dogs, so I didn't get a chance to shoot it...

I love the weight of it. It would make a great truck gun...

Check your local gun shop. They should be able to order one for a nominal fee. Plum Crazy is looking for dealers anyway. At the Greenville gun show one dealer had a bunch of them for $149. I thought that was a lot but they were selling them!

I stand corrected Red Hat, We should support our local gunshops. Buying C&R has gotten me out of the habit of looking local first. Buying parts to repair some of these guns sends me to the internet, as well. I can say that I have spent a fair amount among the gunshops in the tricounty area. I fully expect kep some more after seeing some of the toys Sat.

If I lived close to G'ville, I would pick up another Plum Crazy....

I liked the weight of the one I had. I was going to keep it in the truck....but, trades came by and I had to let it go...

If I pick up another upper, I will give Bob an order....
